Who I Wanna Be (Us).

Unpublished Works, © 2010, BillyPauleyJr.*

Who I Wanna Be (Us).

You kiss me and call me your angel,
For the things I do for you,
You’re simply amazed at how I handle,
The things you just can’t do,

But there’s nothing amazing about me, baby,
I’m simply love you can trust,
I know you love that about me,
And maybe… that’s what makes me us,

Yeah, that’s what makes me us, baby,
To live inside your need,
O’, that’s what makes me us,
And baby, that’s who I wanna be,

You sometimes cry with worry,
But I always pull you through,
When the world is on your shoulders,
I (always) give my strength to you,

But there’s nothing super about me, baby,
I’m simply love; that’s enough,
I know you love that about me,
And maybe… that’s what makes me us,

Yeah, that’s what makes me us, baby,
To live inside your need,
O’, that’s what makes me us,
And baby, that’s who I wanna be,

O’, I know you understand me, baby,
The only one in the world who does,
‘Cos you’re the same for me,
And maybe… that’s what makes you us,

Yeah, that’s what makes you us, baby,
To live inside my need,
O’, that’s what makes you us,
And baby, that’s who you wanna be,

O’, yeah; that’s what makes you,
And that’s what makes me,
That’s what makes us… us.

Close My Eyes.

Unpublished Works, © 2002, BillyPauleyJr.*

Close My Eyes.

I sat out in the sun,
Where I knew you liked to be,
I sat there wishing you,
Could be sitting there with me,
And feeling that you might,
Was enough to make me dream,
Close my eyes and come alive,
Feel the warm sun set me free,

I sat out in the rain,
Where I knew you liked to roam,
No stormy, darkened sky,
Could send you running home,
Just sitting in the rain,
Was enough to let me know,
Close my eyes and make it real,
Feel the water hold me close,

I sat out all alone,
Where I knew you’d not want me,
I sat there wanting you,
Pretending you could be,
And knowing that you couldn’t,
Was enough to make me scream,
Close my eyes and feel the pain,
Feel the lonely trapped in me.

When In Rome.

Unpublished Works, © 2003, BillyPauleyJr.*

When In Rome.

Here in Rome,
You’re on my mind,
People all around,
Drifting thru’ time,
They seem to be,
Happy this way,
No one they need,
Outside this place,

When in Rome,
Do as they do,
When at home,
Let love be true,
But I cannot seem,
To forget the truth,
When in Rome,
I still love you,

The girls all dance,
The guys all swing,
My heart endures,
Thru’ everything,
Here in the mix,
I’m so alone,
For those who live,
Outside my soul,

When in Rome,
Do as they do,
When at home,
Let love be true,
But I cannot seem,
To forget the truth,
When in Rome,
I still love you,

There’s no moral obligation,
That I lean on to be true,
There’s nothing here in Rome,
Just the memories of you,

And that’s enough,
Nothing but love,

When in Rome,
Do as they do,
When at home,
Let love be true,
But I cannot seem,
To forget the truth,
When in Rome,
I still love you,

O’, when at home,
Or here, in Rome,
Or wherever I may go,

O’, when in Rome,
I still love you.

I Pray For The Day.

Unpublished Works, © 2002, BillyPauleyJr.*

I Pray For The Day.

I pray for the day,
When justice comes thru’,
When the media cares,
Like they say that they do,
When patriotism,
Is red, white and blue,
I pray for the day,
When justice comes thru’,

I pray for the day,
When happiness reigns,
When people don’t purposely,
Bring others pain,
When we all come together,
With nothing to gain,
I pray for the day,
When happiness reigns,

I pray for the day,
When freedom is free,
When the rich and the poor,
Conquer their greed,
When together we grow,
And together we bleed,
I pray for the day,
When freedom is free,

I pray for the day,
O’, I certainly do,
But it takes more than me,
It also takes you,
So until you can see,
Until you can say,
We can all make it true,
I pray for the day.

To Mrs. Gorano From Her 1991-92 Fourth Grade Class (But I’m Not Saying Who).

Unpublished Works, © 1992, BillyPauleyJr.*

To Mrs. Gorano From Her 1991-92 Fourth Grade Class (But I’m Not Saying Who).

Mrs. Gorano,
There’s something that I know,
And I don’t know if you know it too,
But you know what I know,
Mrs. Gorano,
I know to be absolute truth,

Do you know that your students were talkin’ ‘bout you,
Do you know what they said and do you know who,
Well, I’m going to tell you, that’s what I’m going to do,
No, I really shouldn’t tell, but I could give you a clue,

There once was a boy named Paul,
Who said these three things, said ‘em all,
“She gives us a lot of Math”,
I’m not kidding, he said that,
“And barely any homework and a lot of science too”,
I’m not saying who said it, but can you guess who,

But I wouldn’t rat on my friends, no, not in the least,
And to prove it I won’t tell you that Tegan said these,
“Mrs. Gorano is good at science and math, by the way,
But she gives us a lot of math, but that’s okay,
We like being smart and we love art,
And Mrs. Gorano is creative and smart”,

O’, for certain I can’t tell you at all who said this,
O’, no… not even if it really was Chris,
He said, “she is good at science, sometimes she is hard,
She does a lot of things”, but he didn’t say what they are,

If I didn’t know better I’d say someone’s a fink,
‘Cos somebody said what Valencia thinks,
She said, “she looks nice and she is very tall”,
Can you believe it… she said that, I can’t believe it at all,

“Good science teacher, nice, smart, mother of two”,
Do you know who said these things about you,
“Wears dresses a lot, gives a lot of math”,
I’m not saying who, but don’t think Shawna said that,

And then, Mrs. Gorano, o’ my goodness… and then,
Someone said, “she attracts a lot of men”,
O’, but I could never tell you, not ever… not me,
But I will tell you that his name rhymes with Keith,

O’, Mrs. Gorano, now you know what I know,
And now I know you know it too,
And you know what I know,
Mrs. Gorano,
I know to be absolute truth,

But there’s something that I know,
Mrs. Gorano,
That you do not know in the least,
I know who said those things, Mrs. Gorano,
But I’ll never tell… no, not me.

Kiss me again,

Give way to a grin,
Then a smile becomes you,
And instinctively,
We’re together again,
And living happily.

Let Forever Begin.

Unpublished Works, © September 10, 2010, BillyPauleyJr.*

Let Forever Begin.

Mary, you came into my life,
I only wanted a friend,
But you showed me,
My greater need, now,
Let forever begin,

Harley, you are so strong and brave,
You make me wanna win,
You turned around,
My sad, sad frown, now,
Let forever begin,

O', yeah, let forever begin,
With a love that never ends,
Come away with me,
O', won't you stay with me,
And let forever begin,

Scarlet, you can make me smile,
Even when I cannot begin,
In your blue eyes,
Are my happy times, now,
Let forever begin,

Loralei, you're a princess to me,
You make me into a prince,
I'm a toad with a wish,
Your sweet, sweet kiss, now,
Let forever begin,

O', yeah, let forever begin,
With a love that never ends,
Come away with me,
O', won't you stay with me,
And let forever begin,

Come away with me,
O', won't you stay with me,
And let forever begin.

I Need You.

Unpublished Works, © 1980, BillyPauleyJr.*

I Need You.

This is just a sweet song,
For the last of the sweet, sweet friends,
And the music doesn't last too long,
But the love expressed will never end,

Can you imagine someone so nice,
So tho'tful in so many ways,
That he would set his tomorrow aside,
So that you may live your today,
Well imagine, my friend,
'Cos I know you can,
You can more than imagine,
'Cos you're that man,

Loose, you're the best a friend could be,
Only for me to say the least,
Once in awhile I'll forget to tell you,
So I'll write you this song and hope it will do,
Even tho' it's been long since I got to tell you,
I need you,

I don't want to trouble you,
So sometimes I keep to myself,
But other times that just won't do,
I really need someone to help,

You've helped me o', so many times,
And kept me from falling apart,
I say it from the top of my mind,
But it comes from the bottom of my heart,
And that's true, my friend,
I'm sure you know,
It's not pretend,
And it will grow,

Loose, you're the best a friend could be,
Only for me to say the least,
Once in awhile I'll forget to tell you,
So I'll write you this song and hope it will do,
Even tho' it's been long since I got to tell you,
I need you,

So I tho't I'd just tell you,
I need you.

If She Didn't Know.

Unpublished Works, © 2010, BillyPauleyJr.*

If She Didn't Know.

She wakes up disbelieving,
Time and time again,
A promising beginning,
Her unforgiving end,
They say love hurts,
But she only knows,
How pain finds her still,
When she's all alone,

O', she knows what love is,
Tho' it only makes her cry,
'Cos if she didn't know,
Then she wouldn't know,
She's got none in her life,

She stares out her broken window,
The dancing rain appears,
Tears of glass shred her cheeks,
For the music she can't hear,
They say it's better,
To have love and lost,
And with nothing to lose,
She can't say it's not,

O', she knows what love is,
Tho' it only makes her cry,
'Cos if she didn't know,
Then she wouldn't know,
She's got none in her life,

O', she's given away her heart,
She's taken every vow,
Love born deep within her,
But still she lives without,

O', she knows what love is,
Tho' it only makes her cry,
'Cos if she didn't know,
Then she wouldn't know,
She's got none in her life,

O', she doesn't know,
What she doesn't know,
But she knows what it could be like,
If she would receive,
What she so believes,
She's given in her life,

O', she knows what love is,
But she doesn't know how love is.

Bigger, Better, Brighter Things.

Unpublished Works, © 2010, BillyPauleyJr.*

Bigger, Better, Brighter Things.

Deep in my blue waters,
You're a scavenger of pain,
My destruction your desire,
My existence your dismay,
Once inside your fish tank,
My delusion on display,
Now my freedom ends your story,
I'm the one that got away,

You can't harbor my emotions,
With your shark-infested schemes,
You're just a drop inside my ocean,
Of bigger, better, brighter things,

Belated sea foam rising,
Brings a voice you'll never know,
The fiery sage of iridescence,
Will dissipate your soul,
You can't drown me with your malice,
Like you used to way back when,
Your attempts to hold me under,
Has only taught me how to swim,

You can't harbor my emotions,
With your shark-infested schemes,
You're just a drop inside my ocean,
Of bigger, better, brighter things,

No, you can't harbor my emotions,
With your shark-infested schemes,
You're just a drop inside my ocean,
Of bigger, better, brighter things,

Yes, you're a drop; I am an ocean,
Of bigger, better, brighter things.

The Running Place.

Unpublished Works, © 1980, BillyPauleyJr.*

The Running Place.

Have you ever heard of the running place,
It’s a place that I like to go to,
Where not a single soul is bro’t to disgrace,
It’s a place that I’d like to show you,
At 617 27th Street,
Lives a wonderful woman trying to make ends meet,
But whether she does or not,
She knows she never could lose what she’s got,

The running place,
It’s a home away from home,
I go to the running place,
If I ever get to feeling alone,

Have you ever got talking to yourself,
Because the walls refused to answer,
Well, come to the place where there’s someone else,
And we could always use another dancer,
Talking thru’ tomorrow,
What yesterday has done,
See the damage, feel the sorrow,
But remember now, it’s gone,

The running place,
It’s a home away from home,
I go to the running place,
If I ever get to feeling alone,

Have you ever felt no one listening to you,
So planned on running away,
Well, God help you, friend, if you do,
Please come to the running place,
If you have a problem,
Maybe we can help you out,
Or maybe every now and then,
You just have things to talk about,

The running place,
It’s a home away from home,
I go to the running place,
If I ever get to feeling alone,

And if you ever get to feeling alone,
Run, run, run, to the running place.

Fly On The Wall (Of Your Soul).

Unpublished Works, © 2010, BillyPauleyJr.*

Fly On The Wall (Of Your Soul).

O', you treat people nice,
But you really don't want to,
You smile in their faces,
But your heart's really untrue,
You wish them well,
But you just want them all to go to hell,

O', I'm a fly on the wall,
I really got to know you,
In the shadow of it all,
Where your heart truly shows you,
O', most of the time,
You can fool them all,
But you can't fool me,
'Cos I'm a fly on the wall,

All of your words,
the come perfectly out,
You lips hold a kiss,
On the edge of your mouth,
Your voice sings in their heads,
But you just want them all to be dead,

O', I'm a fly on the wall,
I really got to know you,
In the shadow of it all,
Where your heart truly shows you,
O', most of the time,
You can fool them all,
But you can't fool me,
'Cos I'm a fly on the wall,

O', a fly on the wall,
Knows what nobody knows,
Where you come from,
Where you wanna go,

O', I'm a fly on the wall,
I really got to know you,
In the shadow of it all,
Where your heart truly shows you,
O', most of the time; (most of the time),
You can fool them all; (all but me, I know),
O', no... you can't fool me; (none of the time),
'Cos I'm a fly on the wall; (O', I'm a fly, fly, fly),
Yeah, I'm a fly on the wall; (of your soul).

There's Always A Better Tomorrow (I Know Where Mine Is).

There’s Always A Better Tomorrow (I Know Where Mine Is).

I’ll never have another day,
Just like the one I had,
A day in such a perfect way,
That everyone was glad,
I consulted with my father,
On the basis of my money,
And he said “son, don’t bother,
I’ll give you all you wantee”,
Then I confessed to Linda,
Who’s my sister, by the way,
That my baseball broke her winda,
But she said “it’s okay”,
Then to answer my every prayer,
My pup saw the vet today,
And his deadly disease that was so rare,
Had dried up and withered away,
Now searching the tho’ts within my mind,
I’m glad I find no sorrow,
And see, without a doubt in my mind,
That this is my better tomorrow.

I Don't Want Your Body (Give It To Me).

Unpublished Works, © 1998, BillyPauleyJr.*

I Don't Want Your Body (Give It To Me).

O', there'll be a lot of talkin',
When this town knows how I feel,
He's bad, he's naughty,
He just wants your body,
They'll say his truth's not real,
But you must know, you must know, you know,
You're a beautiful, beautiful girl,
It's the sound of your laughter,
Not you body I'm after,
I wanna know about your world,

Girl, I don't want your body,
O', but anybody can see,
You've got a lot to offer,
And I've got a lot of need,
O', what I want from you now,
Only love and honesty,
O', I don't want your body,
But I'm not about to stop you,
If you wanna give it to me,

O', the town will be a buzzin',
About the things we haven't done,
It's a matter of time,
'Til we blow their minds,
With our innocence and fun,
And we must laugh our loudest laugh,
When you fly out to visit me,
It's your strength I will miss,
Not the length of your kiss,
Your lips are not what I need,

Girl, I don't want your body,
O', but anybody can see,
You've got a lot to offer,
And I've got a lot of need,
O', what I want from you now,
Only love and honesty,
O', I don't want your body,
But I'm not about to stop you,
If you wanna give it to me,

O', you're a beautiful, beautiful girl,
It's o', so easy to see,
You're a beautiful, beautiful girl,
Beauty with a capital B,
O', you're a beautiful, beautiful girl,
But I see so much more,
You're a beautiful, beautiful girl,
But like I said before,

Girl, I don't want your body,
O', but anybody can see,
You've got a lot to offer,
And I've got a lot of need,
O', what I want from you now,
Only love and honesty,
O', I don't want your body,
But I'm not about to stop you,
If you wanna give it to me,
O', girl, I don't want your body,
O', now give it to me.

One Soldier To Save.

Unpublished Works, © 2010, BillyPauleyJr.*

One Soldier To Save.

He was found,
In the midst of success,
With everything he tried,
He couldn't fail,
He was simply the best,
Still at night; he cried,
For what he couldn't believe,
Caused his heart to grieve,
Brothers dying all around him,
He had no saving deed,

He wasn't happy inside,
To know he'd only tried,
Even tho' his heart; his family,
Would always cry,

Slow it down,
You don't need to be so brave,
You've only got,
One soldier to save,
You did enough,
With everything you gave,
You've only got,
One soldier to save,

He stood up,
In the face of danger,
He was not afraid to fall,
He laughed loudly,
Just to hear the anger,
He was bigger than it all,
But what he couldn't forget,
Was his only regret,
Sisters dying all around him,
He hadn't saved one yet,

He wasn't happy inside,
To know he'd only tried,
Even tho' his heart; his family,
Would always cry,

Slow it down,
You don't need to be so brave,
You've only got,
One soldier to save,
You did enough,
With everything you gave,
You've only got,
One soldier to save,

Altho' he was strong,
He had no saving song,
He never saved one soul; no saving deed,
His whole life long,

Slow it down,
You don't need to be so brave,
You've only got,
One soldier to save,
You did enough,
With everything you gave,
You've only got,
One soldier to save,

Slow it down,
You don't need to be so brave,
You've only got,
One soldier to save.

Mickey.

Unpublished Works, © 1979, BillyPauleyJr.*

Mickey.

At the San Diego airport my plane is leavin’ the ground,
It’s ten a.m. and I’m Michigan bound,
I woke up this morning to find my Mickey was gone,
What did I do to be treated so wrong,
No marriage, for us, was first in our minds,
But our love grew so strong we found ourselves in a bind,
Now the pressure has found her and it sent her away,
I’ve gotta go find her to see what I can say,

I wanna go to Michigan,
I wanna see my Mickey again,
And when I finally see her,
I wanna tell her I love her,

Then in the cold northern air,
The pilot says we’re almost there,
I can feel the plane as it slowly descends,
I can feel my broken heart beginning to mend,
Then on the wing there is a crack and a flash,
And someone screams out, we’re going to crash,
In my hospital room the nurse says, you’ll be okay,
And I said wait a minute I’ve got something to say,

I wanna go to Michigan,
I wanna see Mickey again,
And when I finally see her,
I wanna tell her I love her,

The nurse in a blur comes over to me,
And I said, I’ll never again see my pretty Mickey,
I’ve gotta get myself to Michigan,
If nothing else I wanna see her again,
The nurse slowly turns and walks away,
As she turns back again I see the fears on her face,
And suddenly I realize who I’m talking to,
As Mickey runs over and says, I love you, too,

I finally made it to Michigan,
And I just saw my Mickey again,
And she says she loves me, too,
Goodbye, Mickey, I love you.

Breaking Fast.

Unpublished Works, © 2010, BillyPauleyJr.*

Breaking Fast.

I made it past my midnight hour,
To the lighted end of life,
A newness in my body wakes,
To end a sleep in time,
I'm breaking thru the darkness,
In my zombie skin,
Unstoppable outside,
So detached within,
I'm not feeling dangerous,
No driving force,
I just am; stronger yet,
An empty, wretched horse,
My waking hours now multiplied,
The sun and moon are one,
I've lost the will to rest my soul,
A breaking fast begun.

Like Everybody (Nobody) Else.

Unpublished Works, © 2010, BillyPauleyJr.*

Like Everybody (Nobody) Else.

She was found in desire,
She was lost in the world,
Such an inhuman fire,
In such a mortal girl,
She had an uncommon heart,
With a common seed,
Wished on a single star,
Her universal need,

She wanted love to be (so true),
Like everybody else,
But she was so naive (so new),
Like nobody else,
She was lost in the dream (so blue),
Like everybody else,
But so careful to please (so few),
Like nobody else,

She was wrecked like a ship,
In the storm of her sea,
An unintentional slip,
On the shores of her beach,
She had an unusual calm,
In the usual stir,
She was saved all along,
From an unhallowed Earth,

She wanted love to be (so true),
Like everybody else,
But she was so naive (so new),
Like nobody else,
She was lost in the dream (so blue),
Like everybody else,
But so careful to please (so few),
Like nobody else,

O', she never bled (so long),
In her cut-up life,
She never said (so wrong),
As her cuts fell in rife,

She wanted love to be (so true),
Like everybody else,
But she was so naive (so new),
Like nobody else,
She was lost in the dream (so blue),
Like everybody else,
But so careful to please (so few),
Like nobody else,

She was founded in ire,
She was rapt in a curse,
So absorbed in the fire,
Her sympathetic worse,
You'd think she'd give way,
Her virtueless trust,
But her hope so remained,
In her unyielding bust,

She wanted love to be (so true),
Like everybody else,
But she was so naive (so new),
Like nobody else,
She was lost in the dream (so blue),
Like everybody else,
But so careful to please (so few),
Like nobody else,

O', she was everybody,
Yet somebody,
Like nobody else.

Life Continued.

Unpublished Works, © 2007, BillyPauleyJr.*

Life Continued.

What do we do now,
Where do we go,
All of our questions,
Are answered you know,
Love is not lost,
Inside our tears,
Love is strengthened,
Forever lengthened,
Sixteen years,

Life continued,
Without regret,
We must find the courage,
Lest we forget,
Love is given in life,
Not taken in death,
Life continued,
Without regret,

How can we face it,
When will we see,
The sense of it all,
The comfort we need,
Do not forget,
The happiness shared,
The laughter unfolded,
Relationships molded,
The destiny dared,

Life continued,
Without regret,
We must find the courage,
Lest we forget,
Love is given in life,
Not taken in death,
Life continued,
Without regret,

Who do we turn to,
Why must we cry,
The love in your heart,
Will let you know why,
Rely on each other,
Remember the smiles,
Love so beholden,
Hearts so golden,
Will hurt you sometimes,

Life continued,
Without regret,
We must find the courage,
Lest we forget,
Love is given in life,
Not taken in death,
Life continued,
Without regret.

Into Her Window (Out Of Her Soul).

Unpublished Works, © 2010, BillyPauleyJr.*

Into Her Window (Out Of Her Soul).

Into her window,
Her mind would go,
A pane so telling,
Reflecting her so,
Time there before her,
Simple and slow,
Into her window,
Out of her soul,

Her heart cried loudly to get away,
With nowhere to go; she foolishly stayed,
The more she suffered; the less she cried,
Her peace was not death; she had already died,

Into her window,
Her mind would go,
A pane so telling,
Reflecting her so,
Time there before her,
Simple and slow,
Into her window,
Out of her soul,

Outwardly stable; inwardly crushed,
Her temper was silent inside her disgust,
The powerless vapor of her woeful tune,
Waned her defenses like a darkening moon,

Into her window,
Out of her soul,
Into her silence,
Empty and cold,

Into her window,
Her mind would go,
A pane so telling,
Reflecting her so,
Time there before her,
Simple and slow,
Into her window,
Out of her soul,

Into her window,
Lost and alone,
Into her window,
She made her home,
Into her window,
Out of her soul.

Ascending Love.

I cannot be with you tonight,
So this, I tho’t I’d send,
And may my love subdue your fright,
A love that will not end.

Free.

I used to have a lonely heart,
But yesterday it died,
When I walked thru’ that wall of doubt,
There was no place to hide,
And unlike any fear I held,
There, to my surprise,
Love was waiting patiently,
On the other side,

O’, I’m free now from that wall of doubt,
Fear no longer keeps me out,
Only love surrounds me now,
No longer hidden by that wall of doubt,

I used to live in jeopardy,
Of losing all my dreams,
When I walked thru’ that wall of doubt,
I could plainly see,
A little faith was all it took,
To finally set me free,
And dreams I tho’t I’d never tell,
Were waiting there for me,

O’, I’m free now from that wall of doubt,
Fear no longer keeps me out,
Only love surrounds me now,
No longer hidden by that wall of doubt,

O’, doubt no longer towers,
Love now is my power,
My heart no longer sour,
In its garden, flowers,

O’, I’m free now from that wall of doubt,
Fear no longer keeps me out,
Only love surrounds me now,
No longer hidden by that wall of doubt,

O’, fear cannot build,
What faith can't bring down,
I’m free to love… so free from that wall of doubt.

Daytona Beach (Rainshine).

Unpublished Works, © 2010, BillyPauleyJr.*

Daytona Beach (Rainshine).

There she danced in silence,
The ocean was her sound,
The waves upon Daytona Beach,
Crashing all around,
Her hair flew in the breeze,
In tangent with her dress,
The rainshine came to hide her tears,
To settle her unrest,

Daytona Beach rainshine,
Put a smile beyond her tears,
Lifted hope within her heart,
Made the sadness disappear,
As Father Sky kissed Mother Earth,
Rain fell from a sunny sky,
She danced with them; outside her pain,
O', Daytona Beach rainshine,

The rainshine mixed emotions,
In the colours of local art,
A beauty fell upon her,
On the canvas in her heart,
The tide bro't her a gift of hope,
Laid a sand dollar at her feet,
A worldly wish upon her,
To know her life is sweet,

Daytona Beach rainshine,
Put a smile beyond her tears,
Lifted hope within her heart,
Made the sadness disappear,
As Father Sky kissed Mother Earth,
Rain fell from a sunny sky,
She danced with them; outside her pain,
O', Daytona Beach rainshine,

There she danced; so pretty,
Her passion was undressed,
The ocean sang its soothing song,
Daytona Beach caressed,
She danced in the healing rain,
That fell from a sunny sky,
There she claimed her happiness,
Her heart; her love; her life,

Daytona Beach rainshine,
Put a smile beyond her tears,
Lifted hope within her heart,
Made the sadness disappear,
As Father Sky kissed Mother Earth,
Rain fell from a sunny sky,
She danced with them; outside her pain,
O', Daytona Beach rainshine,

She danced beyond her tears and hurt,
Daytona Beach rainshine,
As Father Sky kissed Mother Earth,
Daytona Beach rainshine.

The Gulf of Mexico.

Unpublished Works, © 2000, BillyPauleyJr.*

The Gulf of Mexico.

I've got a fire in my heart,
And sand in my soul,
Where you are not,
On the Gulf of Mexico,
I walk along,
And look behind,
At your footprints gone,
Near the path of mine,

And, o'-o',
The Gulf of Mexico,
Is a beautiful place to go,
But it shows; when you're all alone,
And there's no way to know,
'Til you've walked it alone,
'Til the sun's gone cold,
O', o'-o',
The Gulf of Mexico,

There's a palm tree that stands,
In sand on the dune,
Where I fold my hands,
And howl at the moon,
I touch the sky,
And feel the stars,
I hope to fly,
To where you are,

And, o'-o',
The Gulf of Mexico,
Is a beautiful place to go,
But it shows; when you're all alone,
And there's no way to know,
'Til you've walked it alone,
'Til the sun's gone cold,
O', o'-o',
The Gulf of Mexico,

I've got an ocean of love,
Like the tide coming in,
It's more than enough,
To fill you again,
Someday soon,
I hope I won't even know,
What it's like without you,
On the Gulf of Mexico,

And, o'-o',
The Gulf of Mexico,
Is a beautiful place to go,
But it shows; when you're all alone,
And there's no way to know,
'Til you've walked it alone,
'Til the sun's gone cold,
O', o'-o',
The Gulf of Mexico,

And, o'-o',
I don't wanna go,
Without you,
On the Gulf of Mexico.

1981.

Unpublished Works, © 1982, BillyPauleyJr.*

1981.

It was 1981,
I had nothing else to do,
There was a future in the sun,
I was watching my dreams come true,
I was laughing out loud,
I was on the edge of every night,
When it all came crashing down,
When my brother lost his life,

O', so much... so gone,
There was nothing I could do,
O', so young... so wrong,
It tore my life in two,
O', so much... so gone,
So young... so wrong,
O', so much... so gone,
So very young,
In 1981,

O', in 1981,
I had a love that was so true,
But it all came so undone,
There was nothing I could do,
We were happy; I was proud,
'Til my world came crashing down,
Our dreams; all our vows,
In fallen hearts upon the ground,
O', so much... so gone,
There was nothing I could do,

O', so young... so wrong,
It tore my life in two,
O', so much... so gone,
So young... so wrong,
O', so much... so gone,
So very young,
In 1981,

It was 1981,
I had nothing left to do,
With no future and no sun,
My dreams would not come true,
It was final; it was sad,
On the edge of no return,
There was nothing left for love,
And nothing left to learn,

O', so much... so gone,
There was nothing I could do,
O', so young... so wrong,
It tore my life in two,
O', so much... so gone,
So young... so wrong,
O', so much... so gone,
So very young,
In 1981,

Yeah, so much... so gone,
So young... so wrong,
How can I... go on,
With so much... so gone,
O', how can I go on,
So much... so gone.

Me and You (Man and Wife).

Unpublished Works, © 1982, BillyPauleyJr.*

Me and You (Man and Wife).

Yesterday I was thumbing thru',
My memories of you,
Recalling fast,
An aching past,
The commitments I withdrew,
Now, suddenly I feel at ease,
To let my love go on,
To take a chance,
To make the dance,
Last a whole life long,

So don't you go disappointing me,
I'm not one to take it well,
If you find doubt living life with me,
I'd rather have life, itself,
No, don't come here disappointing me,
I don't understand goodbye,
The only thing I can truly see,
Is me and you; man and wife,

Tears swell up into my eyes,
When I have time alone,
Afraid you're worth,
More than I deserve,
Or that someday you'll think so,
I can't believe the things you say,
And each day you say more,
It's not that I,
Think they are lies,
But I've heard them all before,

So don't you go disappointing me,
I'm not one to take it well,
If you find doubt living life with me,
I'd rather have life, itself,
No, don't come here disappointing me,
I don't understand goodbye,
The only thing I can truly see,
Is me and you; man and wife,

Yesterday I was thumbing thru',
My memories of you,
Recalling fast,
My aching past,
The commitments I withdrew,

Now suddenly I find my dreams,
Where I laid them down to die,
But all my tears,
Can't interfere,
With you and me; man and wife,

So don't you go disappointing me,
Believe in us; me and you, man and wife.

Die A Hero.

Unpublished Works, © 1981, BillyPauleyJr.*

Die A Hero.

Eleven o'clock; in the city,
Mr. Lennon is goin' home,
There's a man in the bushes,
Mr. Lennon, he doesn't know,
The next time we hear his name,
Mr. Lennon, he will be dead,
Tho' it's sad, we can't forget,
What he meant when he said,

When I'm gone please don't think me bad,
Don't think me lonely, don't think of me sad,
'Cos I've been happy livin' life with Yoko,
Now I don't want to die,
Don't want to die,
Don't want to die... a hero,

The clock has stopped in the city,
All the people begin to cry,
For they don't understand,
Why their hero had to die,
The next time we hear voices,
They'll be repeating historic dates,
And the men in the paper,
Will blame everything except fate,

When I'm gone please don't think me bad,
Don't think me lonely, don't think of me sad,
'Cos I've been happy livin' life with Yoko,
Now I don't want to die,
Don't want to die,
Don't want to die... a hero,

Eleven o'clock; in the city,
Mr. Lennon is going home,
There's a God in the heavens,
Mr. Lennon; I'm sure he knows,
The next time he hears his name,
He'll be called into the gates,
And I hope to be like him,
In many different ways,
Like when he said,

When I'm gone please don't think me bad,
Don't think me lonely, don't think of me sad,
'Cos I've been happy livin' life with Yoko,
Now I don't want to die,
Don't want to die,
Don't want to die... a hero,

When I'm gone please don't think me bad,
Don't think me lonely, don't think of me sad,
'Cos I've been happy livin' life with Jamie,
Now I don't want to die,
Don't want to die,
Don't want to die... like Johnny,

Our life; together,
Was so precious; together,
O', yeah (o' yeah) (o' yeah); o', yeah,
Starting over,
Do-do do do do do do do do do; aha; aha; aha; aha-ah,
All you need is love,
All you need is love,
All you need is love,
Love; love is all you need (love is all you need),
Love is all you need (love is all you need),
Love is all you need (love is all you need; o' yeah),
We love you, yeah, yeah yeah,
We love you, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Well-well, it's all you need,
It's all you need,
Love.

The Fate and Fame of an Unknown Poet.

Unpublished Works, © 1996, BillyPauleyJr.*

The Fame and Fate of an Unknown Poet.

If I had to judge my character,
I'd say I'd fallen behind,
I'm useless with my broken dreams,
And wasteful with my time,
Every time I write a song for you,
I feel... well, I know it's wrong,
The words don't say a single thing,
I can't capture you in a song,

O', honey, I am sorry,
I can't give what you deserve,
But my love for you is so,
I can't put it into words,

I feel as if I need a punishment,
For the way I am with you,
I can say 'most anything,
But can't express my love, it's true,
Sometimes I feel a smarter man,
Is lurking inside my love,
It's almost a funny tho't I get,
To know that's not enough,

O', honey, I am sorry,
I can't give what you deserve,
But my love for you is so,
I can't put it into words,

Someday I'll sit down and write,
And find the words I'm after,
But 'til that day I'll hope that you,
Will say it doesn't matter,
So cry now for the unknown poet,
Who tho't that in the least,
His song would bring his love to tears,
To show there was a need,

O', honey, I am sorry,
I can't give what you deserve,
But my love for you is so,
I can't put it into words.

Texas.

Texas.

(whistle in)
Jamie is my sweetheart,
I love her, yes I do,
And I am so content to say,
That she loves me too,
I would do anything,
Just to keep her heart,
But when I went to Texas,
We nearly fell apart,

O', what am I doin' in Texas,
What am I doin' alone,
What am I doin' two thousand miles,
Away from my home,
How much time have I wasted,
What have I got to show,
What am I doin' in Texas,
I don't know,

I told my mom and dad,
That I was doin' fine,
I didn't give them any room,
To read between the lines,
I wanted so bad to scream,
Dad, I'm so alone,
I know you might not believe in me,
But Texas ain't my home,

O', what am I doin' in Texas,
What am I doin' alone,
What am I doin' two thousand miles,
Away from my home,
How much time have I wasted,
What have I got to show,
What am I doin' in Texas,
I don't know,

Goin' away to Texas,
Was the thing to do at first,
But I'll never forget the feelin',
When bad things turned to worse,
So Jamie put a dress on,
And Mom clean up my room,
'Cos this here boy,
Is comin' home real soon,

O', what am I doin' in Texas,
What am I doin' alone,
What am I doin' two thousand miles,
Away from my home,
How much time have I wasted,
What have I got to show,
What am I doin' in Texas,
I don't know,

(One more time from the one, two, three, four!),
What am I doin' in Texas,
What am I doin' alone,
What am I doin' two thousand miles,
Away from my home,
How much time have I wasted,
What have I got to show,

(Slow it down now!),
I'm in Texas,(slower!),

But I'm comin' (you got it now),

I'm comin'... home (woo!)
(whistle out).

A Lessen (Lesson) In Love (From A Woman's View).

Unpublished Works, © 1981, BillyPauleyJr.*

A Lessen (Lesson) In Love (From A Woman's View).

Like a special wave on a special sea,
You're the one I chose to carry me,
But like any wave on any sea,
You'll only take me as far as the beach,
You'll take me to a desert land,
You'll leave me there face down in the sand,
And it's not like I can say I didn't understand,
'Cos I was told long ago by some life-saving man,
He said, you're lucky he didn't take you away my dear,
Throw you to the sharks then disappear,
I've been there before that's how I wound up here,
Sitting on a sand bar drowning memories in beer,
Then he said something that was quite unclear,

He said, don't pay attention to the flirty way I walk,
It's not a sturdy way to walk,
But it gets me in bed,
And please excuse the punny way I talk,
It's a funny way to talk,
But there's something to be said,

I only had one thing to say to him,
'Cos I didn't quite understand him then,
I said, nice to meet you, I hope I see you again,
And I wasn't even sure of what I meant,
And I found myself trying to capture his heart,
But he had no interest in me,
He said, we'll never make it very far,
I can love you, but can you love me,
It made sense to him, but not to me,

Then he said, don't pay attention to the flirty way I walk,
It's not a sturdy way to walk,
But it gets me in bed,
And please excuse the punny way I talk,
It's a funny way to talk,
But there's something to be said,

Like a special love in a special case,
I'll choose another lover to take your place,
But like any love in any case,
He can only take me as far as disgrace,
He'll take me to a crowded church,
And leave me there face up in the dirt,
Unless of course, I can't be hurt,
From what I've seen and all I've heard,
He might just take me away from here,
Then toss me aside and disappear,
I've never been there before but I will, I fear,
Sitting in a snack bar, drowning memories in beer,
Now suddenly everything is clear,

When he said, don't pay attention to the flirty way I walk,
It's not a sturdy way to walk,
But it gets me in bed,
And please excuse the punny way I talk,
It's a funny way to talk,
But there's something to be said,

And now I know what I would say,
'Cos I understand his feelings, I know his ways,
I'd say nice to meet you, I hope you can stay,
But I'm not so sure it's not too late,
Now I understand he was trying to help,
And what he was saying to me,
He was saying, don't fall in love with love itself,
Please fall in love with me,
It finally made sense to me.

The Only Thing.

The Only Thing.

I am a decent man,
With an innocent mind,
I keep my hands to myself,
I keep myself in line,
But let me have a bad, bad day,
I swear, I'd try to steal you away,

'Cos I do love you,
Deep down in my soul,
And I so want you,
More than you could know,
And I know I can be,
All that you need,
And the only thing that saves you... from me,
Is me,

You're a pretty girl,
With a sexy way,
You keep your world to yourself,
You keep yourself at bay,
But dare you have a bad, bad day,
I swear, I'd try to steal you away,

'Cos I do love you,
Deep down in my soul,
And I so want you,
More than you could know,
And I know I can be,
All that you need,
And the only thing that saves you... from me,
Is me,

I truly wish... sometimes,
I didn't give a damn,
I sit and watch you struggle,
With a lesser man,
Waiting for resistance to win,
O', this decency is doin' me in,

O', 'cos I do love you,
More than you could know,
And I so want you,
Deep down in my soul,
And I know I can be,
Everything that you need,

And the only thing that saves you,
O', the very thing that craves you,
Yeah, the only thing that saves you,
Is me... and my decency,

I am a decent man... damn.

A Loving Mawmaw.

A Loving Mawmaw.

God, help me look,
In the right direction,
Help me to see,
The good of it all,
Comfort my days,
Of pain with reflection,
Into the wonder,
Of a loving Mawmaw,

Gone are the days,
Of laughter like thunder,
Gone are the times,
She held me so close,
Here are the days,
Of solemn, sweet wonder,
Here are the times,
She needs me the most,
And so I must look,
To honor thru’ danger,
To see the courage,
She gave to us all,
To bravely discard,
My sadness and anger,
To behold the miracle,
Of a loving Mawmaw,

God, help me look,
In the right direction,
Help me to see,
The good in it all,
Comfort my days,
Of pain with reflection,
Into the timeless wonder,
Of a loving Mawmaw.

Smokey The Toad.

Smokey The Toad.

I heard you had a rotten day,
That everything went bad,
Your doggie went outside to play,
And never did come back,
You tho't it was an accident,
That he'd be back tonight,
But the note you found that he had left,
Said "you're no friend of mine",
Don't let it get you down,
Don't dig yourself a hole,
'Cos look who's here to cheer you up,
It's Smokey the Toad,

Yeah, Smokey the Toad is an easy going guy,
He can pick you up so much that you can almost fly,
You'll laugh so hard that you'll forget that you were gonna cry,
Yeah, Smokey the Toad knows how to make you smile,
Smokey the Toad is an easy going guy,

Maybe you've been busy lately,
Working all the time,
It's been so long since you've relaxed,
You think that it's a crime,
And you keep on pretending,
It doesn't bother you,
But all those lies are wasted time,
'Cos we all know the truth,
Don't let the world blind you,
Don't let them turn you cold,
Live your life in happiness,
Like Smokey the Toad,

Yeah, Smokey the Toad is an easy going guy,
He can pick you up so much that you can almost fly,
You'll laugh so hard that you'll forget that you were gonna cry,
Yeah, Smokey the Toad knows how to make you smile,
Smokey the Toad is an easy going guy,

Well, I heard you had a terrible day,
That everything went wrong,
You tried your best, but anyway,
Everything went wrong,
So maybe times do get rough,
And you lose some things you love,
But you won't have much at all,
If it's not what you want,
Don't just turn and walk away,
And say it isn't so,
'Cos everyone has seen it well,
In Smokey the Toad,

Yeah, Smokey the Toad is an easy going guy,
He can pick you up so much that you can almost fly,
You'll laugh so hard that you'll forget that you were gonna cry,
Yeah, Smokey the Toad knows how to make you smile,

If I Loved You.

If I Loved You.

I would know without reason,
When I look in your eyes,
You could touch without reaching,
Into my disguise,
I would dream while awake,
And wish them all true,
Sweet dreams of your love,
If I loved you,

I would destroy the barriers,
Between your heart and mine,
I would open the sea,
So you could swim thru’ my mind,
I would not give you doubt,
I could not leave you blue,
I would lay it all out,
If I loved you,

I would settle your mind,
When you could not be sure,
There would be no doubt,
About who we were,
I would be a bright light,
In the dark of your blue,
I would see thru’ your eyes,
If I loved you,

O’, in the deepest of doubt,
In the absence of trust,
I’d walk thru’ the fire,
I’d crawl thru’ the dust,
In everything I could be,
In all that I’d do,

Would you love me,
If I loved you?

The Knob Noster Way.

Unpublished Works, © 2002, BillyPauleyJr.*

The Knob Noster Way.

O’, I went to school,
In the Knob Noster Way,
With my orange and black heroes,
And a smile on my face,

With teachers who would gladly,
Take time to smile back,
With parents who would proudly,
Wear orange and black,

Where a game was more,
Than a win or a loss,
Where church really was,
A meeting with God,

O’, I grew up true,
In the Knob Noster way,
Sure of myself and my friends,
And the history we made,

Where my teacher, Mrs. Jarolim,
So tho’tfully said,
Put those things on your paper,
That are there in your head,

And she made my life better,
Made me so proud to say,
I went to school… grew up true,
In the Knob Noster way.

Yamka (Yester Woman).

You came to me from my yesterdays,
Loving more than I tho't there were ways,
I don't know how you wound up here,
But I've loved you for a million years,

Yester woman, my yester glow,
A better love, I'll never know,
My heart's desire,
Knows your fire,
Ahhh... yester woman, my yester glow,

I don't know what tomorrow will do,
But yester sorrow; I never knew,
I love you, baby, from so long ago,
You love me true; many lifetimes I know,

Yester woman, my yester glow,
A better love, I'll never know,
My heart's desire,
Knows your fire,
Ahhh... yester woman, my yester glow,

And I don't question the love that is you,
Holding me now in our current days,
And I don't wonder how true is true,
When you love me now in those yester ways,

Yester woman; my yester glow,
A better love, I'll never know,
My heart's desire,
Knows your fire,
Ahhh... yester woman; my yester glow,

Yeah, yester woman; my yester glow,
Yester woman; yester love I know.

Moonrise.

Unpublished Works, © 2010, BillyPauleyJr.*

Moonrise (Knowing You).

Here I sit in the sunlight,
And marvel at the day,
But I know a better life,
Is only a sunset away,

O', it's not hard to be patient,
Knowing you,
Love so rare, so ancient,
Knowing you,

Meet me in the moonrise,
Where the sunlight wanes,
Where love is present,
My powers are crescent,
Meet me where happiness stays,
At the end of the sunlight,
O', meet me in the moonrise,

There I stand in the rainshine,
In the shade of a broken rainbow,
But beyond the clouds,
A better life, I know,

It's not hard to resist,
Knowing you,
Love in all that exists,
Knowing you,

Meet me in the moonrise,
Where the rainshine falls,
Where love is present,
My powers are crescent,
Meet me where happiness calls,
At the end of the rainshine,
O', meet me in the moonrise,

I won't burn in the sunlight,
Knowing you,
I won't drown in the rainshine,
Knowing you,

O', it's not hard to be patient,
It's not hard to resist,
Love so rare, so ancient,
Love in all that exists,

I'll meet you in the moonrise,
Knowing you,
O', meet me in the moonrise,
Knowing you.

R.E.A.C.H. (For The Children).

Reach for the children,
Reach from your heart,
Reach to let them know,
The further we reach,
The closer they are,
Reach and bring them home,

Have you seen our missing children,
Have you heard their subtle clues,
Open your eyes and realize,
They're reaching out for you,
From their uncharted islands,
You're a ship in the sea,
The answer is so close to you,
If you only dare to reach,

O', reach for the children,
Reach from your heart,
Reach to let them know,
The further we reach,
The closer they are,
Reach and bring them home,

Do you know our missing children,
Have you heard their mournful cries,
Open your heart and let them know,
They're always on our minds,
From their drought in the desert,
You're an oasis, you're a dream,
The answer isn't far from you,
You can help them if you reach,

O', reach for the children,
Reach from your heart,
Reach to let them know,
The further we reach,
The closer they are,
Reach and bring them home,

We are Rescue Efforts Assisting Children Home (REACH!),
Join our Rescue Efforts Assisting Children Home (REACH!),

The closer they are,
Reach and bring them home,

Letter To Daisy.

Letter To Daisy.

Daisy,
Tell me a story,
Don’t you know I hang on every word you say,
Tell me a story about a happy girl,
Who knows her sister truly loves her,
A story about a love not gone away,

Time is a romantic healer,
Tears will sweetly wash your loving soul,
Love is long, but never distant,
Keeping me beside you where you go,

Hold me true, don’t delay,
Tell me what your dreams are all about,
Your gut feeling is not accidental,
It’s me and all who love you speaking out,

Why is life not simply simple,
Simply put, I do not know,
But what I do know leaves me no worry,
I know someone who loves me so,

Don’t forget those Eskimo kisses,
Or secret starry night wishes,
Tickles that made you wiggle,
Moments that made us giggle,

Daisy,
Tell me a story,
Don’t you know I hang on every word you say,
Tell me a story about a happy girl,
Who knows her sister truly loves her,
A story about a love not gone away.

Carolina.

Unpublished Works, © 2007, BillyPauleyJr.*

Carolina.

Born in Carolina,
A pure blue Tarheel girl,
Destined to be destined,
Bound to see the world,
Near and far she journeyed,
But she never left this town,
No matter how far she went,
She was always around,

Her heart did not roam,
No matter where she’d go,
She has always been home,
Carolina,
She will always be home,
Carolina,

And the storms swept in,
To take her away,
Her anchor was her saving grace,
A home to hold,
A time to pray,
A comfort she would find no other place,

Now in Carolina,
A pure blue Tarheel girl,
Coming home forever,
Back from all the world,
Near and far her memories,
Her love is all around,
The same is true in life and death,
In Carolina she’ll be found,

Her heart did not roam,
No matter where she’d go,
She has always been home,
Carolina,
She will always be home,
Carolina,

Born in Carolina,
She will always be home,
Carolina.

You're My Hero.

Unpublished Works, © 2007, BillyPauleyJr.*

You’re My Hero.

I’ve been out in a war zone,
Where a grown man can come unglued,
I’ve never known,
A hero as brave as you,

I’ve seen the desperate surrender,
Of a man about to lose,
But I’ve never seen,
A soldier as tough as you,

You’re my hero,
Can’t you see,
You’re the truth within my dream,
You’re all I want,
Whenever I need… a hero,

I’ve fallen from the sky,
Landed on the dark side of the moon,
I’ve never met,
A trooper like you,

I’ve seen them chicken out,
I’ve seen them turn pale blue,
But I’ve never seen,
Them bounce as high as you,

You’re my hero,
Can’t you see,
You’re the truth within my dream,
You’re all I want,
Whenever I need… a hero,

And the world,
They like to call me a hero,
For standing tall in the face of doom,

But all my courage,
Comes to me accidental,
I’ve never been half as brave as you,
You’re my hero,

Can’t you see,
You’re the truth within my dream,
You’re all I want,
Whenever I need… a hero,

You’re the truth within my dream,
You’re my hero.

Mileena.

Unpublished Works, © 2004, BillyPauleyJr.*

Mileena.

Out in the ocean,
In the island sun,
Across the deep blue sea,
There is a girl,
I know I love,
Mileena, won’t you marry me,

O’, Mileena, Mileena,
Mileena, Mileena,
Mileena the girl that I see,
Out in the ocean,
And across the sea,
Mileena won’t you marry me,
O’, Mileena won’t you marry me,

One little monkey,
Jumping on the bed,
One little monkey I see,
One fell off and,
Bumped his head,
He said, Mileena won’t you marry me,

O’, Mileena, Mileena,
Mileena, Mileena,
One little monkey I see,
One fell off and bumped his head,
Mileena won’t you marry me,
O’, Mileena won’t you marry me,

O’, out in the ocean,
Out in the sea,
In the Caribbean sun,
There is a notion,
A girl I see,
Mileena, my only love,

O’, Mileena, Mileena,
Mileena, Mileena,
Mileena, the girl that I love,
Out in the ocean,
Into the sun,
Mileena, won’t you marry me,
O’, Mileena won’t you marry me,

Yeah, Mileena, Mileena,
Mileena, Mileena,
Mileena, won’t you marry me,

One little monkey,
Out in the sea,
Mileena, won’t you marry me,
O’, Mileena, won’t you marry me,

Yeah, Mileena,
I’m your monkey,
Won’t you marry me?

The Hidden Queen.

Unpublished Works, © 1980, BillyPauleyJr.*

The Hidden Queen.

I’ve loved you since the day we met,
But you don’t seem to love me yet,
Or maybe you are just afraid,
Scared you've made a big mistake,
Don’t worry, Babe, I’ve made one too,
I let my heart gamble and it lost you,

And I could cry,
O’ why, o’ why,
Did I let you walk away,
I guess I was shy,
Now I could die,
For not asking you to stay,

I’ve told myself a hundred times,
In a hundred songs and a hundred lines,
That you would not consider me,
And I was right or so it seems,
And I can’t say I’ll be all right,
Not until I know you’re mine,

And I could cry,
O’ why, o’ why,
Did I let you walk away,
I guess I was shy,
Now I could die,
For not asking you to stay,

You’re the best thing I’ve ever seen,
And I want you to be my queen,
I’m a little crazy to want your love,
But if I called; would you hang up,
I know that you don’t love me yet,
But I’ve loved you since the day we met,

And I could cry,
O’ why, o’ why,
Did I let you walk away,
I guess I was shy,
Now I could die,
For not asking you to stay,

Yes, I’m so sad,
And I feel so bad,
‘Cos I lost you, didn’t I, Babe.

Jack Daniels Will Do.

Unpublished Works, © 2006, BillyPauleyJr.*

Jack Daniels Will Do.

Hey, mister bartender,
Take my order please,
I want the woman at the end of the bar,
Lord, she's such a tease,
I'll take her single and straight,
I'm not askin' much from you,
But if you cannot deliver her, then,
Jack Daniels will do,

I came in here lookin',
And she's sure lookin' great,
I refuse to leave here disappointed,
I'm sure to get a date,
I don't know how lonely she is,
Or what she's going thru',
But if she doesn't want me at all, then,
Jack Daniels will do,

I ordered me a whiskey,
Jack, he sure is good,
He's making me the center of attention,
And she's smilin' like I knew she would,
My jokes are sure to impress her,
Like I never knew,
But if she still can turn me down, then,
Jack Daniels will do,

The bar is barely open,
The clock struck two a.m.,
But I still have a fighting chance,
With the competition wearin' thin,
I'm about half wasted,
And about half unglued,
But I don't care if she leaves alone, 'cos,
Jack Daniels will do,

Hey, mister bartender, don't ya know,
Jack Daniels will do.

Down In Flames.

Unpublished Works, © 2006, BillyPauleyJr.*

Down in Flames.

I flew like a hero,
In and out of your defense,
And I survived all along the way,
But baby, now you're leaving me,
And I cannot pretend,
I feel like I'm going down in flames,

O', fighting for your love,
I was an ace among the best,
I put all those other men to shame,
O'. but lately I've been waging war,
With my own happiness,
O', I feel like I'm going down in flames,

Down in flames,
O', down into the fire,
Down in flames,
Losing my desire,
O', I may never fly in love again,
O', I feel like I'm going down in flames,

In the art of gallantry,
O', I was there for you,
And I provided love along the way,
But here I stand alone in love,
No matter what I do,
O', I feel like I'm going down in flames,

Down in flames,
O', down into the fire,
Down in flames,
Losing my desire,
O', I may never fly in love again,
O', I feel like I'm going down in flames,

Down in flames,
I'm lost without your lovin',
Down in flames,
I'm burning down to nothin',
O', I may never fly in love again,
'Cos I feel like I'm going down in flames,

O', I feel like I'm going down in flames,
Yeah, it hurts me like I'm going down in flames.

My Babydoll.

I'm not playin' a game girl,
I'm not riskin' anything,
I'm just in it for love; and that's all,

But I'm not feelin' ashamed girl,
For givin' you my everything,
Afterall; you are my babydoll,

Come hold me close,
Don't let me go,
The world is so very, very cold,
Come hold me tight,
And let me love you tonight,

I'm not gettin' serious,
Not if you're gonna laugh at me,
And tell your friends I'm nothing to you at all,

But I'm not getting furious,
If you don't feel like havin' me,
Afterall; you are my babydoll,

Come hold me close,
Don't let me go,
The world is so very, very cold,
Come hold me tight,
And let me love you tonight,

I've been hurt by some my love,
That really did not wanna be,
And they loved to watch me crumble and fall,

But I'm not givin' up my love,
Not if you promise your love to me,
Afterall; you are my babydoll,

Come hold me close,
Don't let me go,
The world is so very, very cold,
Come hold me tight,

And let me love you tonight; o',
Tonight; my babydoll.

I Want Your Kiss.

Unpublished Works, © 1981, BillyPauleyJr.*

I Want Your Kiss.

I don't know how to say I want you,
I don't know how to say I care,
But you can believe if you were alone,
That I would soon be there,

I've tried so many times to tell you,
But it never did any good,
No matter how I tried to say it,
You never understood,

I want your kiss,
I want your kiss,
Oo', now baby, don't ya dare resist,
And after then,
Ya know, I want you again,
Oo', now baby, won't ya please give in,
I want your kiss,
I want your kiss,
Oo', now baby, don't ya dare... o', please don't resist,

I don't ever want you lose you,
And I don't even have you yet,
But you can believe if I had the chance,
That I would do my best,

It doesn't really seem to matter,
How much or if I care for you,
But just in case it does one day, then,
Baby, I really do,

I want your kiss,
I want your kiss,
Oo', now baby, don't ya dare resist,
And after then,
Ya know, I want you again,
Oo', now baby, won't ya please give in,
I want your kiss,
I want your kiss,
Oo', now baby, don't ya dare... o', please don't resist,

I wish I could stop the world babe,
So you'd have time to love me too,
Maybe then you'd understand,
That I'm in love with you,

I've tried so many times to show you,
But you never seem to change,
No matter how I tried to show you,
You'd just run away,

I want your kiss,
I want your kiss,
Oo', now baby, don't ya dare resist,
And after then,
Ya know, I want you again,
Oo', now baby, won't ya please give in,
I want your kiss,
I want your kiss,
Oo', now baby, don't ya dare... o', please don't resist,

My Love Song Is.

Unpublished Works, © 1980, BillyPauleyJr.*

My Love Song Is.

I just wanna write a love song different from the rest,
One that’ll play on the radio and become the very best,
If you want it please reserve it,
And God knows you deserve it,
And like everything I do,
My love song is you,

I want this to be different, but I know it’ll be the same,
‘Cos like everything I try to do my love song’s in your name,
If you want it please reserve it,
And God knows you deserve it,
And like everything I see,
My love song is me,

To think of it, if my love song was different it wouldn’t be love,
‘Cos it’s a stereotype kind of feeling, the kind I’m thinking of,
If you want it please reserve it,
And God knows you deserve it,
And like everything I trust,
My love song is us.

With words that are far much more than unkind,
Does this make him fulfilled and proud,

Simple (The Truth About Us).

Unpublished Works, © 2010, BillyPauleyJr.*

Simple (The Truth About Us).

Life is so easy,
When love is simple and true,
I know this simply because,
I'm so in love with you, so true, so true,
I can send you gifts without reason,
You can open them without guilt,
I don't expect you to heal my sorrows,
O', but I know, you always will,
O', it's so simple,
Our unconditional love is so simple,
Born in trust,
It's beautifully simple, o' so simple,
Simple,
The truth about us,
I can tell you stories without morals,
You can listen without sin,
I can start loving you; never knowing,
Yet not believing it'll ever end,
O', it's so simple,
Our unconditional love is so simple,
Born in trust,
It's beautifully simple, o' so simple,
Simple,
The truth about us,
O', give your heart,
I will not crush it,
Give your truth,
I will turn it into trust,
O', give your soul,
I will not waste it,
It's all so simple,
The truth about us,
O', it's so simple,
Our unconditional love is so simple,
Born in trust,
It's beautifully simple, o' so simple,
Simple,
The truth about us,
O', life is so easy,
When love is simple and true,
I know; I know, simply because, o',
I'm so in love with you, so true, so true,
Simple, so true; my love,
Simple,
The truth about us.

Jealous.

Unpublished Works, © 2002, BillyPauleyJr.*

Jealous (Zoey’s Dream).

There’s a girl in my dreams,
She’s better for you,
I wonder sometimes,
If she can be true,
But I know if you are,
Then she can be too,
O’, there’s a girl in my dreams,
She’s better for you,

Jealous,
It’s a weak and angry truth,
Jealous,
Of the girl I dreamed for you,
So jealous,
Of the girl I want to be,
So all the girls can be jealous,
So jealous of a girl like me,

The girl is so perfect,
She knows your very heart,
I see her so many times,
There, in your sweet arms,
She’s so right just to be,
With you, where you are,
O’, the girl is so perfect,
She knows your very heart,

Jealous,
It’s a weak and angry truth,
Jealous,
Of the girl I dreamed for you,
So jealous,
Of the girl I want to be,
So all the girls can be jealous,
So jealous of a girl like me,

She’s a dream girl, I know,
A girl I dream to be,
A girl so like the one for you,
So unlike a girl like me,
I get so jealous of her,
I cry inside my dream,
O’, she’s a dream girl, I know,
A girl I dream to be,

Jealous,
It’s a weak and angry truth,
Jealous,
Of the girl I dreamed for you,
So jealous,
Of the girl I want to be,
So all the girls can be jealous,
So jealous of a girl like me,
O’, I will be your dream girl,
So all the girls can be,
Jealous, jealous, so jealous,
Of a supergirl like me.

Romeo And His Princess.

Unpublished Works, © 1981, BillyPauleyJr.*

Romeo And His Princess.

He was a small town Romeo,
With hopes and dreams to find,
She was a forgotten princess,
Waiting for her knight,
They looked well together,
They seemed a perfect match,
But soon time pushed them miles apart,
And put an end to that,
And what had not yet started,
Had crumbled at their feet,
And all the time they were apart,
They felt so incomplete,

O', will they ever know if they'd be happy together,
Will there be only memories to dream on and treasure,
And can they be satisfied knowing this... forever,
O', will they ever know if they'd be happy together,

He shot off into a war,
With hatred all around,
She fell in a lifeless pool,
And left nothing to be found,
He wrote to her to tell her,
That soon he would return,
All his life was cancelled now,
To make some room for her,
But she would never answer,
And when he finally came,
He found he wasn't the only one,
Who'd tho't to get away,

O', will they ever know if they'd be happy together,
Will there be only memories to dream on and treasure,
And can they be satisfied knowing this... forever,
O', will they ever know if they'd be happy together,

So he went back to loneliness,
Returning just sometimes,
Always only emptiness,
Was there for him to find,
Then one day a letter came,
And Romeo felt terrible,
The letter claimed his princess dead,
And soon would be her burial,
And with a tear in every word,
He said he'd live no more,
His broken heart would take him to heaven,
To everything he'd lived for,

O', will they ever know if they'd be happy together,
Will there be only memories to dream on and treasure,
And can they be satisfied knowing this... forever,
O', will they ever know if they'd be happy together,
O', I wonder if they'll be happy now, together... forever.

You Make My World Wonderful.

Unpublished Works, © 1986, BillyPauleyJr.*

You Make My World Wonderful.

Girl, I won't forget it,
Right from the start,
You sent it in a letter,
In a greeting card,
A simple little message,
But don't you see,
I'll never forget,
What it means to me,

Faded jeans; a pocketful of dreams,
And you make my world wonderful,
O', faded jeans; a pocketful of dreams,
And you make my world wonderful,
Yeah; you make my world wonderful,

It jumped up from the paper,
And into my soul,
It touched me like an angel,
And I want you to know,
That wherever I go,
Wherever I am,
I'm gonna have it with me,
In my heart and my hand,

Saying; faded jeans; a pocketful of dreams,
And you make my world wonderful,
O', faded jeans; a pocketful of dreams,
And you make my world wonderful,
Yeah; you make my world wonderful,

Girl, I won't forget it,
Right to the end,
You wrote it in a letter,
On a card you sent,
A simple little message,
But don't you see,
It was sent from you,
And it was meant for me,

It said; faded jeans; a pocketful of dreams,
And you make my world wonderful,
O', faded jeans; a pocketful of dreams,
And you make my world wonderful,
Yeah; you make my world wonderful,

Yeah, you do; it's true,
You make my world wonderful.

The Girl In The Mirror (from the soundtrack: "Out-of-Order").

You tell me you love me forever,
You treat me with angel-like care,
I want to believe,
In the girl that you see,
But my doubt; it won't let me dare,

O', I wish I could see with your eyes,
And trust in the beauty you see,
In the depths of my soul,
I wish I could know,
How your love is reflecting on me,

But the girl in the mirror won't show me,
The beauty that you claim to see,
I want to believe you; I trust you,
But the girl in the mirror is me,

Everything that I've ever learned,
Tells me; have faith in your soul,
Every truth,
Leads me to you,
Still there's that girl that I know,

I can dream with the pictures you give me,
I can warm for a while in your tho'ts,
I can smell the rose,
Of the beauty you know,
And escape from the girl I am not,

But the girl in the mirror won't show me,
The beauty that you claim to see,
I want to believe you; I trust you,
But the girl in the mirror is me,

O', the girl in the mirror doesn't love me,
Ironically; so easy to see,
You must know my prison,
Is lacking your vision,
Of the girl in the mirror you see,
O', the girl in the mirror I need,

But the girl in the mirror won't show me,
The beauty that you claim to see,
I want to believe you; I trust you,
But the girl in the mirror is me,

O', I trust you; and I believe you,
But the girl in the mirror is me.

It's A Long, Long Way (Nashville).

Unpublished Works, Copyright 2010, BillyPauleyJr.*

It's A Long, Long Way (Nashville).

Only yesterday,
I was living without you,
But tomorrow and today,
It's nothing I wanna do,
When I tune love's GPS,
On the map inside my soul,
I find the heart of you,
On a path that was my own,
O', it's a long, long way to Nashville; 'til we get there,
The distance is only space between me and you,
Time won't fill your heart,
But baby; I will,
And Nashville will be here and gone too soon,
O', Baltimore; never kept score,
Virginia Beach; kept my sanity,
Time will tell o'; I know it will,
But it's a long, long way to Nashville,
Here inside my heart,
Distance has no place,
The reality of us is,
Only a dream away,
Our love will keep the time,
On the face of the clock we know,
And baby, we will get there,
When we go,
O', it's a long, long way to Nashville; 'til we get there,
The distance is only space between me and you,
Time won't fill your heart,
But baby; I will,
And Nashville will be here and gone too soon,
O', it's a long, long way to Nashville; 'til we get there,
The distance is only space between me and you,
Time won't fill your heart,
But baby; I will,
And Nashville will be here and gone; too soon,
O', Nashville will be here and gone; never me and you.

The McDonaldland Klan Phase III.

Unpublished Works, © 1980, BillyPauleyJr.*

The McDonaldland Klan Phase III.

The McDonaldland Klan is alive and well,
Altho’ at times it’s hard to tell,
One of the best is Loose, so he comes first,
John’s not the best, but he couldn’t be worse,
We even have nicknames for some of the crew,
Like Bullwinkle, Dooger, and little Munchkin too,
Donny Kidd is the Kidd, pet gopher, or Disco,
And everybody knows that Jerry Meadows is Macho,
Phil’s still in love with Mountain Dew,
Gail still loves Scottie and Sue still loves Sue,
Some new people we hardly know,
Are Tony, Janet E., Tammy, and Deb Rose,
Everyone knows George Lambert ‘cos he’s been here so long,
And everyone knows Janet Tackett ‘cos her voice is so strong,
Tim is still the twin of Tom,
McToad is still the son of Mom,
D.J.’s still in love with Vicki,
Tim Maynard is still one of the sickies,
Tim’s sister, Peggy, I constantly bother,
But if something shows up, Tim, I’m not the father,
Patty Howard still laughs like a clown in heat,
Spiffy’s still short and Pam’s still sweet,
Theresa’s a Payne and Patty’s a Dasher,
Kathy Wheeler’s insane and Jo Risner’s a flasher,
Don Jr. and Riddell fill our nights with laughter,
Joyce Workman and Patricia fill our days with disaster,
George Harrison works here, but she’s not a Beatle,
And Clem is Tweedle Dum without the Tweedle,
Jenny’s a teaser and Sherrill’s a flirt,
Ed is a weirdo and Mike Reed’s a twirp,
Carol and Robert are two that are new,
Debbie Crawford alone is our best grill crew,
We have a Sweet Pea, but not a Popeye,
Gerald’s low and Mikey’s high,
Bonnie’s good, but Jerri Spear is the best,
Oscar needs a wife and Lib needs a rest,
Garrett and Joyce are brother and sister,
Greg Loftus is about as fun as a blister,
That’s a lot of names, but there’s lots more yet,
Like Joyce B., Sylvia, and also Pam S.,
Julie and Deb Clark are working later at night,
Herbie is a love bug and Mary gets by,
Peggy Reffitt is cool and Harold is nice,
Nancy’s still breakfast and Joetta still bites,
Shari is crazy and Denise is herself,
Bev’s no stranger and Berinda’s an elf,
All I’ve seen Marsha do is clean,
And all Catwoman does is lean,
Kathy L. has yet to work in this heaven,
And, o’ yeah, I almost forgot about Kevin,
I’m sure Tom Wolf would agree very fast,
The best is always mentioned last,
And now that I’ve named all the crew,
Let my final words say to you,
That the proof is in the McDonaldland Klan,
Nobody can do it like McDonald’s can.

The Krew Klutz Klan.

Unpublished Works, © 1980, BillyPauleyJr.*

The Krew Klutz Klan.

The McDonaldland Klan has made a change,
With the craziness on a wider range,
Now, the managers have basically stayed the same,
So let’s get a peek at the krew’s little game,
The craziness is proved by our family tree,
For, who else, would admit being related to me,
Let me try to describe the krew,
From another crazy krew member’s point of view,
Some of the krew don’t know the meaning of life,
Like Loose, who’s trying to date Terri, my wife,
The grill krew of Dooger, Dave T., and D. Bayes,
Puts new people like Playdough and Mary B. in a craze,
Joetta and Lindy now work breakfasts and days,
And Tim and Tom are still twins in too many ways,
Mom won’t let me date Lisa, she says it’s not right,
But I think that I’ll ask her and date her in spite,
Melinda is another of the McDonaldland cuties,
And Lightnin’ is surely one of the fruities,
Another one of the workers is Ingles, Mary,
Who publishes my poems and has parties, prairie,
Janet’s pretty rough considering she’s so old,
Patty laughs too often at jokes that are not told,
I think everyone is mentioned, at least I hope they are,
Now you see the people crazy, and conditions bizarre,
We’ll probably lose the Klan, if only one by one,
But I will always strive to remember the fun.

The McDonaldland Klan.

Listen up now, try to understand,
And I’ll introduce you to McDonaldland,
The crew is crazy, there is no doubt,
They turn all your tho’ts inside out,
The craziness of the crew is a lot of fun,
But the best comes when the work is done,
This is when managers go berserk,
And it’s a slap in your face and ice down your shirt,
One particular manager I have in mind,
Sprays bug spray and “maybe” acts gay all the time,
The young wedded one sings like Little Bo Peep,
I just hope I’m on his schedule next week,
Kiddo, I tho’t, was bright and concerned,
But his brain took a walk and never returned,
One’s on the short side as everyone sees,
This quality makes her quite easy to tease,
Now the manager we all like to call Anna,
Might notta know how, but she thinka she canna,
Tracy, you see, now he’s the one,
With the habit of calling everyone son,
There’s a little one that still looks like a child,
But when told throws fits and goes totally wild,
The head of the gang is a bit of a ham,
I won’t be mean ‘cos he won’t give a damn,
The owner works right along with the crew,
And all in all is as crazy as you,
This is where I aint’ I and you ain’t you,
It’s WillyToad*, 'possum, Peanut and Pooh,
There’s more details I can think of right off hand,
But for the most part that’s McDonaldland.

For Being Loose.

Unpublished Works, © 1979, BillyPauleyJr.*

For Being Loose.

Loose, my brother, you’re quite a guy,
When we’re with you the time just flies,
Of course, it always does when we’re having fun,
For a smile like yours could brighten the sun,
The time spent with you cannot be outclassed,
And you’re just the type to make it last,
This party to honor the birth of you,
Is the best attempt at the least we could do,
I’ll never remember you as just another,
But as the Koala Bear Kid and a helluva brother.

What The Hell.

Unpublished Works, © 2002, BillyPauleyJr.*

What the Hell.

What do you say,
What the hell,
Who would know,
Who could tell,
You stand alone,
No one can know,
How much it hurts,
How deep it goes,
Don’t go to sleep,
The dreams will come,
Don’t stay awake,
You’ll come undone,
So what do you do,
What do you say,
What the hell,
Anyway.

Lazy Girl.

Unpublished Works, © 2001, BillyPauleyJr.*

Lazy Girl.

Ivy is so stubborn,
I don't know why she is,
She's anxious with her fiery heart,
But she's selfish with her kiss,
She wants to know how love is,
She wants to feel it strong,
She wants to open up her heart,
But fears it could go wrong,

O', I think I shall marry Ivy,
She's such a lazy girl,
She'll never find a love alone,
In her fat and lazy world,
She doesn't dare to venture,
She doesn't kiss to tell,
I think I shall marry Ivy,
Just to save her from herself,

Ivy is a coward,
Afraid of her own heart,
Like every breath a target,
And love her only dart,
Lurking in the darkness,
And wishing to the sky,
Believing it may give her wings,
But still afraid to fly,

O', I think I shall marry Ivy,
She's such a lazy girl,
She'll never find a love alone,
In her fat and lazy world,
She doesn't dare to venture,
She doesn't kiss to tell,
I think I shall marry Ivy,
Just to save her from herself,

Ivy is a damsel,
And love is her distress,
You can lead her with emotion,
But you can't make her undress,
She argues there's no heartache,
In a heart that she won't share,
I argue there's a better fate,
For hearts that dare to care,

O', I think I shall marry Ivy,
She's such a lazy girl,
She'll never find a love alone,
In her fat and lazy world,
She doesn't dare to venture,
She doesn't kiss to tell,
I think I shall marry Ivy,
Just to save her from herself,

Yes, I think I shall marry Ivy,
And take her from her shelf,
O', I wonder if she shall marry me,
Just to save me from myself.
O', yeah.

Easter Sunday.

Unpublished Works, © 2002, BillyPauleyJr.*

Easter Sunday.

It’s Sunday,
Easter Sunday,
Quietly in our bed,
There is rain there on our window,
And peace inside my head,
There’s warmth inside my soul,
Where an ice storm used to be,
There’s a silent conversation there,
Between God and me,

“Listen,” He said, “to my lesson,
The meaning in this day”,
Salvation is my promise,
Sacrifice the way”,

I smiled,
A simple smile,
And felt my heart grow warm,
Inside the sun began to shine,
And break my inner storm,
I prayed for God to help me,
Not falter in my quest,
And to remember, sometimes,
The answer won’t be “yes”,

“Listen,” He said, “to my lesson,
The meaning in this day”,
Salvation is my promise,
Sacrifice the way”,

And so I do,
I miss you,
With my very heart,
But God has His Almighty plan,
And sacrifice... your part.

Penny.

Penny, I love you, you make me proud,
Everything you do,
Near and far in this world, I've found,
No one like you,
Yeah, you,

A long, long, long, long time ago,
It seems like forever to me,
We used to live in a world I know,
So happy and free,
Then time went on and on and on,
And so as well did we,
But I still see you all day long,
In the sweetest memory,

Penny, I love you, you make me proud,
Everything you do,
Near and far in this world, I've found,
No one like you,
Yeah, you,

Yeah, Penny, with you my life is fulfilled,
I held you then and I always will,
In a memory, in my heart held still,
Yes, I always, always will,
Love you still,

Not too long, long, long ago,
A friend was asking me,
How the hell we could be so close,
I said now can't you see,
As time went on and on as it will,
And so as well did we,
I held her every moment still,
In the sweetest memory,

Penny, I love you, you make me proud,
Everything you do,
Near and far in this world, I've found,
No one like you,
Yeah, you.

A Song for Me and Patrick To Annoy Mom and Adam with while in Mom's Car on Our Way to California from North Carolina - or - I Think We're in Kansas.

You got boogers for brains,
It's drivin' me insane,
You stand there everyday,
And make the same mistakes,
You got boogers for brains,

You got boogers for brains,
It's more than a strain,
If you sneeze all the time,
You're gonna blow your mind,
You got boogers for brains.

This Rose.

Unpublished Works, © 1982, BillyPauleyJr.*

This Rose.

For the many thanx I owe to you,
I hope this single rose will do,
Like my love for you deep inside,
It will bloom its fullest before it dies,
In any state it's beautiful,
And it makes me feel so wonderful,
I hate to ever say goodbye,
And more so do i hate to cry,
But both of these come to mind,
Anytime i go and leave you behind,
So please don't hate to see me go,
I know you will, but don't tell me so,
Just kiss me now and wish me luck,
Exchange me glances and return my hugs,
And for the many thanx I owe to you,
I hope this single rose will do.

You On My Bed.

Unpublished Works, © 2010, BillyPauleyJr.*

You On My Bed.

I fell asleep lost and lonely,
With you on my bed,
The sweetest dream fell upon me,
With you in my head,
Telling me to follow my heart,
Especially thru' the hardest part,
I'm scared, but I'm still brave,
With you on my bed,

Won't you tell me a bedtime story,
Make my fears go away with the morning,
I can face the world waiting for me,
With you on my bed,

I'm facing all my inner truth,
With you on my bed,
I'm naked here in front of you,
With no real regret,
You love me like you said that you would,
But I never knew love was so good,
I think I can live forever,
With you on my bed,,

Won't you tell me a bedtime story,
Make my fears go away with the morning,
I can face the world waiting for me,
With you on my bed,

I cried just to make me whole,
With you on my bed,
The tears, they left my soul,
With nothing to shed,
I can do what I have to do,
Now that love is pure and true,
I think I can finally make it,
With you on my bed,

Won't you tell me a bedtime story,
Make my fears go away with the morning,
I can face the world waiting for me,
With you on my bed,

Won't you tell me a bedtime story,
O', please tell me a bedtime story,
I can finally face the world,
With you on my bed.
