The Most Important Things To Me.

Unpublished Works, © 1981, BillyPauleyJr.*

The Most Important Things To Me.

People are always asking me,
Asking me what,
They ask me what I like,
And what I want,
When I try to tell them,
They don’t believe I say what I do,
Can you,
Afterall what I say is true,

Drugs, sex and religion are the most important things to me,
It’s just my opinion, but I know many others agree,
That drugs, sex and religion are the only things that set you free,
So drugs, sex and religion are the most important things to me,

When I was younger, man,
I spoke my mind,
I always got what I wanted,
And what I liked,
Once in church the padre said,
What’ve you got to say,
You know,
I told him what I’d tell him today,

Drugs, sex and religion are the most important things to me,
It’s just my opinion, but I know many others agree,
That drugs, sex and religion are the only things that set you free,
So drugs, sex and religion are the most important things to me,

In this busy world today,
People don’t care,
They just look right thru’ you,
With looks that scare,
When you try to talk to them,
Like fish in a bowl, they squirm,
It leaves,
Not another, no other way to turn,

Drugs, sex and religion are the most important things to me,
It’s just my opinion, but I know many others agree,
That drugs, sex and religion are the only things that set you free,
So drugs, sex and religion are the most important things to me.

The Optimist.

Unpublished Works, © 1980, BillyPauleyJr.*

The Optimist.

I have learned throughout my years,
That life begins and ends in tears,
So I’ll just put a smile in my heart,
And keep it there ‘til death us do part.

Prince Charming.

Unpublished Works, © 2002, BillyPauleyJr.*

Prince Charming.

There is no prince charming,
You say it aloud,
But I know you believe,
There must be one somehow,
For the fact that his absence,
Can lessen your heart,
Is evidentiary emotion,
That tears you apart,
You toil and you tarry,
You wonder each day,
But don't let your dreams,
Go quietly away,
Prince charming needs you,
As you're needing him,
He cannot face dragons,
Or castles on whims,
He must have your faith,
He must hear your voice,
He must not feel lonely,
When making his choice,
Cast him your dreams,
Be a damsel he'll save,
Don't fear distress,
He'll chase it away,
Know that prince charming,
Is looking for you,
And one day you'll see,
When dreams do come true,
You'll dance in the rain,
You'll laugh in the storm,
You'll stand in the snow,
With him loving you warm,
You'll sing in the morning,
You'll sigh in the dusk,
With the moon in your eyes,
And your heart full of trust,
You'll be the princess,
You want so to be,
When you say aloud,
What you truly believe,
There is a prince charming,
There's love where it matters,
There's truth, there's devotion,
And a happily ever after.

My Advice.

Unpublished Works, © 1997, BillyPauleyJr.*

My Advice.

O’, you say I help you feel good,
‘Cos your ways are so misunderstood,
O’, you heed every word that I say,
And you need, o’, you need me to stay,

But my advice is not to take it from me,
‘Cos my life is no living dream,
And who am I telling you what is best,
When my life is a total mess,
O’, my advice can’t you see,
Is not to take advice from me,

Still you rave on and on,
O’, you say I can do no wrong,
But I know how wrong I have been,
And I don’t want to be wrong again,

So my advice is not to take it from me,
‘Cos my life is no living dream,
And who am I telling you what is best,
When my life is a total mess,
O’, my advice can’t you see,
Is not to take advice from me,

O’, you say you want my advice,
Yesterday it made you feel nice,
But I fear in the back of my mind,
Would your tears get mixed up with mine,

O’, my advice is not to take it from me,
‘Cos my life is no living dream,
And who am I telling you what is best,
When my life is a total mess,
O’, my advice can’t you see,
Is not to take advice from me,
Yeah, my advice can’t you see,
Is not to take advice from me.

Pausal Note #1.

How about a break from the mundane me to take in some real world trivia?

Did you know etymology tells us the word "blog" is a 1999 lexicon addition short for Weblog?

Hmmm... I kind of like Weblog better. But then that's mostly 'cos it looks like "we blog"... which we do. :) I say we keep changing back and forth until in 100 years etymologists no longer know which came first! And it all started here on my Weblog! (or blog?)

The word Weblog is dated as joining our lexicon in 1997, but I'm pretty sure Spiderman had a Weblog as far back as 1962... where he kept his cool spidey notes... no???

Break over! Back on your heads!!

It's Not Like You.

Unpublished Works, © 1992, BillyPauleyJr.*

It’s Not Like You.

Late at night I’m sitting alone,
Wondering where you go,
When you’re beautiful,
And you’ve got somebody to show,
A beauty like yours, you see,
Will always find you company,
It’s only up to you,
On the kind that you want to keep,

O’, I can’t wait ‘til the day that you come to know me,
I can’t wait for the night this is not a dream,
O’, I can’t wait, but something’s trying to show me,
It’s not like you to fall in love with me,
No, it’s not like you to fall in love with me,

When the morning sun comes in,
I’ll be looking for you again,
Just a glimpse of you,
Makes my body shake within,
‘Cos you, you will never see,
The barriers holding me,
A beauty like yours,
Never ever has to dream,

O’, I can’t wait ‘til the day that you come to know me,
I can’t wait for the night this is not a dream,
O’, I can’t wait, but something’s trying to show me,
It’s not like you to fall in love with me,
No, it’s not like you to fall in love with me,

When the night is in your view,
Look up at the moon,
See my omniscient eyes,
Looking for the love of you,
And if love is there to find,
I will come into your life,
And love you, girl,
Forever if you don’t mind,

O’, I can’t wait ‘til the day that you come to know me,
I can’t wait for the night this is not a dream,
O’, I can’t wait, but something’s trying to show me,
It’s not like you to fall in love with me,
No, it’s not like you to fall in love with me.

I Was A Patriot (When Patriotism Wasn't Cool).

Unpublished Works, © 2002, BillyPauleyJr.*

I Was A Patriot (When Patriotism Wasn’t Cool).

I was crazy for loving America,
I looked silly in my red, white, and blue,
I was weird for singing like a patriot,
Then NineOneOne came and so were you,
I was odd to proudly be American,
I was strange for flying my flag true,
I was unusual to be so thankful for my freedom,
Then NineOneOne came and so were you,

I was a patriot,
When patriotism wasn’t cool,
Singing our national anthem,
Saying our pledge in school,
Ready to die for freedom,
Bleeding red, white, and blue,
Yeah, I was a patriot,
When patriotism wasn’t cool,

I was different for my understanding,
I am lucky to live like I do,
I was proud to be a patriot,
Then NineOneOne came and so were you,
I was wacky for waving my flag,
At home, at play, at school,
I was pledging my allegiance,
Then NineOneOne came and so were you,

I was a patriot,
When patriotism wasn’t cool,
Singing our national anthem,
Saying our pledge in school,
Ready to die for freedom,
Bleeding red, white, and blue,
Yeah, I was a patriot,
When patriotism wasn’t cool,

O’, I was a nerd for knowing our anthem,
Yes, and a geek for singing it too,
I was lame, no doubt, with my hand on my heart,
Then NineOneOne came and so were you,

I was a patriot,
When patriotism wasn’t cool,
Singing our national anthem,
Saying our pledge in school,
Ready to die for freedom,
Bleeding red, white, and blue,
Yeah, I was a patriot,
When patriotism wasn’t cool.

The Suicide Note.

Unpublished Works, © 1980, BillyPauleyJr.*

The Suicide Note.

Every time I see you,
I want to gain your love,
But every time I see you,
The feeling never comes,
My heart falls so low,
Every time you pass me by,
‘Cos as I say hello,
You’re telling me goodbye,
It doesn’t take a fool,
To see I’m about to fall,
So I just play it cool,
And not bother you at all,

I’ll just ride into the sunset,
Like a brave a gallant knight,
My suit of armor will help me hide,
The tears that fall inside,
And you, fair lady, will watch and wonder,
If you were right or wrong,
Knowing that I can’t come back,
After I have gone,

Yes, every time I see you,
I see the very best,
But every time I see you,
I feel an emptiness,
My heart skips a beat,
Just because you’re near,
‘Cos it’s the part of me,
That wants to know you’re here,
It doesn’t take a fool,
To see I’ll hit the floor,
So I’ll just play it cool,
And not bother you anymore,

I’ll just fly into the sunset,
Like a bird, proud in its flight,
My altitude will help me hide,
The tears that fall inside,
And you, my dove, will watch and wonder,
If you were right or wrong,
Knowing that I can’t come back,
After I have gone,

You know that every time I see you,
I want your love to show,
But every time I see you,
I know it can’t be so,
My heart feels so cold,
Knowing that I’ve lost,
‘Cos you have to be sold,
And I didn’t know the cost,
It doesn’t take a fool,
To see I should’ve known,
So I’ll just play it cool,
And leave you all alone,

I’ll just cry into the sunset,
Like a man who’s lost his pride,
And I won’t have a thing to hide,
The tears that fill my eyes,
And you, my angel, will watch and wonder,
If you were right or wrong,
Knowing that I can’t come back,
After I have gone,

And I’ll never say I love you again,
Not as a lover and not as a friend,
But if you can, remember, at one time I did,
After I have gone.

The Fear I Feel Most.

Unpublished Works, © 1979, BillyPauleyJr.*

The Fear I Feel Most.

In the idleness I can feel your presence is near,
Questioning why there are feelings of fear,
You’re the only real true love that I’ve ever known,
I fear that you’ll hate me and leave me alone,
I will always love you as I have from the start,
But the fear I feel most is a broken heart.

Maybe So Or Maybe Not.

Unpublished Works, © 2001, BillyPauleyJr.*

Maybe So Or Maybe Not.

To wage a war,
And be a true contender,
You must give it all you’ve got,
To fold your flag,
And give it in surrender,
Is maybe so or maybe not,

Don’t come to me,
With maybe I will love you,
Don’t answer faith,
With maybe I am lost,
Just come to me,
With honesty that knows you,
Not maybe so or maybe not,

To win in life,
And truly be successful,
You must meet your worthy cause,
To find your way,
Yet travel one less dreadful,
Is maybe so or maybe not,

Don’t come to me,
With maybe I will love you,
Don’t answer faith,
With maybe I am lost,
Just come to me,
With honesty that knows you,
Not maybe so or maybe not,

Maybe so,
We should be together,
Is maybe not,
The way it ought to be,

Maybe so,
I will always love you,
Is maybe not,
Good enough for me,

To fall in love,
And label it forever,
Takes certainty most haven’t got,
To find a place,
That sometimes gives you pleasure,
Is maybe so or maybe not,

Don’t come to me,
With maybe I will love you,
Don’t answer faith,
With maybe I am lost,
Just come to me,
With honesty that knows you,
Not maybe so or maybe not,

O’, come to me,
And let honesty unfold you,
Not maybe so or maybe not,
Not maybe so,
Or maybe not.

If Dogs Could Talk.

Unpublished Works, © 2005, BillyPauleyJr.*

If Dogs Could Talk.

Becky* wasn’t mean,
She loved Ruby, her pup,
She did everything,
To brighten her up,
She bo’t her squeaky toys,
And an Old Navy coat,
Lil’ Ruby was cute,
And that’s all she wrote,

O’, if dogs could talk,
Ruby would scream,
She’d cry out, “Why, Mama, why,
D’ya make a fool out of me?,
I wanna run away,
When you baby me”,
O’, if dogs could talk,
No doubt, lil’ Ruby would scream,

On Christmas night,
Becky* tho’t it was cute,
When she made Ruby,
Wear a Santa suit,
Then on New Year’s Eve,
When the sun went down,
Becky* got her camera,
And made Ruby a crown,

O’, if dogs could talk,
Ruby would scream,
She’d cry out, “Why, Mama, why,
D’ya make a fool out of me?,
I wanna run away,
When you baby me”,
O’, if dogs could talk,
No doubt, lil’ Ruby would scream,

Becky* dressed Ruby,
For Valentine’s Day,
She put on cupid wings,
And a cherry beret,
She taught her to bark,
“I love you, mama”,
It was o’, so cute,
It was too much drama,

O’, if dogs could talk,
Ruby would scream,
She’d cry out, “Why, Mama, why,
D’ya make a fool out of me?,
I wanna run away,
When you baby me”,
O’, if dogs could talk,
No doubt, lil’ Ruby would scream,

Becky* loved Ruby,
But Ruby would pray,
She wouldn’t be a shamrock,
On St. Patrick’s day,
To be an Easter bunny,
O’, Ruby would cry,
Or an Uncle Sam,
On the Fourth of July,

O’, if dogs could talk,
Ruby would scream,
She’d cry out, “Why, Mama, why,
D’ya make a fool out of me?,
I wanna run away,
When you baby me”,
O’, if dogs could talk,
No doubt, lil’ Ruby would scream,

She’d be a fairy princess,
On Halloween,
And a Thanxgiving turkey,
You know what I mean,
O’, if dogs could talk,
Lil’ Ruby, o’, Ruby would scream.

Naked.

Unpublished Works, © 2004, BillyPauleyJr.*

Naked.

Here I am,
You can see me here, naked,
Nothing hiding the truth in my soul,
Please don’t look,
If you think you can’t take it,
It’s the only way that I know,
You might fall in love completely,
You might dream into the night,
You might find me looking deeply,
Into places where you cry,
Please don’t look,
If you think you can’t take it,
It’s the only way that I know,
Here I am,
You can see me here, naked,
Nothing hiding the truth in my soul.

All The Wrong People.

Unpublished Works, © 2009, BillyPauleyJr.*

All The Wrong People.

There's a man with money,
Money to buy the world,
He lives in a mansion up on the hill,
There's a man with honey,
Honey for his sweet girl,
But don't you know he died heartbroken still,

All the wrong people live,
All the wrong people die,
All the wrong people laugh,
All the wrong people cry,
All the wrong people give,
All the wrong words are lies,
All the wrong people live,
All the wrong people die,

There's a man with freedom,
All his dreams to decide,
He chooses to live in a foolish complaint,
There's a man imprisoned,
In generations of hate,
Sorry still, for the man that he ain't,

All the wrong people live,
All the wrong people die,
All the wrong people laugh,
All the wrong people cry,
All the wrong people give,
All the wrong words are lies,
All the wrong people live,
All the wrong people die,

All the wrong people tell you,
How to live your life,
All the wrong people listen,
To all the wrong advice,

There's a man with war,
Killing his own children,
He lives in an office on Capitol Hill,
There's a man with peace,
Crying give it a chance,
Don't you know it, he's crying still,

All the wrong people live,
All the wrong people die,
All the wrong people laugh,
All the wrong people cry,
All the wrong people give,
All the wrong words are lies,
All the wrong people live,
All the wrong people die,

All the wrong people tell you,
How to live your life,
'Cos all the wrong people live,
And all the wrong people die,
All the wrong people listen,
To all the wrong advice,
All the wrong people live,
All the wrong people die,
O', all the wrong people live,
All the wrong people die,
All the wrong people,
So many people,
All the wrong people die.
