Your Butterfly Sings.

Unpublished Works, © 2005, BillyPauleyJr.*

Your Butterfly Sings.

I search your deep, dark eyes,
Looking for your heart,
No matter how I try,
I cannot see that far,
But your butterfly sings,
And I know who you are,

O’, I don’t think in a million years,
I would ever, ever know,
But your butterfly sings,
And your story is told,
O’, your butterfly dreams,
And your truth is known,
Yes, your butterfly sings,
And your story of love unfolds,

I study your sweet lips,
Looking for your truth,
Longing for your kiss,
I never can get thru’,
But your butterfly sings,
And I can see you true,

O’, I don’t think in a million years,
I would ever, ever know,
But your butterfly sings,
And your story is told,
O’, your butterfly dreams,
And your truth is known,
Yes, your butterfly sings,
And your story of love unfolds,

O’, and in your dreamy tho’tfulness,
I’m lost for all the things I wish,
But I can find you in everything,
When your butterfly sings,

O’, I don’t think in a million years,
I would ever, ever know,
But your butterfly sings,
And your story is told,
O’, your butterfly dreams,
And your truth is known,
Yes, your butterfly sings,
And your story of love unfolds,

Under those colourful wings,
Is a treasure of gold,
Yes, your butterfly sings,
And your story of love unfolds.

I Do So Love You (The Return Of Sam-I-Am).

Unpublished Works, © 1996, BillyPauleyJr.*

I Do So Love You (The Return Of Sam-I-Am).

You’re not the one for me,
I used to really think that way,
You’re not the one I need,
I never ever tho’t you would stay,
But just like the storybook,
Of Dr. Seuss’s Green Eggs And Ham,
You made me take another look,
Like that tricky little Sam-I-Am,
Now all I can say,
Is, Darlin’, please don’t go away,

‘Cos I do so love you Carla Lee,
I do so love you, can’t you see,
This better life, I never dreamed could be,
I do so love you, o’, my Carla Lee,

And I could love you in a storm,
I could love your body warm,
And I could love you on a star,
O’, I could love you where you are,
And I could love you here or there,
Hey, I could love you anywhere,

O’, I do so love you, Carla Lee,
I do so love you, can’t you see,
This better life, I never dreamed could be,
I do so love you, o’, my Carla Lee,

And I could love you young and wild,
Hey, I could love you with a child,
And I could love you years from now,
O’, I could love you without a doubt,
And I could love you in the rain,
O’, I could love you again and again,

O’, I do so love you, Carla Lee,
I do so love you, can’t you see,
This better life, I never dreamed could be,
I do so love you, o’, my Carla Lee,

And I could love you far away,
I could love you every day,
And I could love you when you go,
I could love you more than you know,
And I could love you for lovin’ me,
I could love you more than you see,
And I could love you any ol’ way,
Yeah, I could love you more than I say,
And I could love you in the dark,
O’, I could love your weakest part,
And I could love you here or there,
Hey, now I could love you anywhere,

I do so love you, Carla Lee,
I do so love you, can’t you see,
This better life, I never dreamed could be,
I do so love you, o’, my Carla Lee,
I do so love you, Carla Lee,
I do so love you, can’t you see,
I do so love you, do you love me,
I do so love you, o’, my Carla Lee,

And I could love you in a bar,
O’, I could love you in my car,
And I could love you hmmm-mm-mmm...

Beautiful Child.

Unpublished Works, © 2005, BillyPauleyJr.*

Beautiful Child.

Sometimes, I know, you hurt,
And I cannot make it good,
But, baby, you wouldn’t be you,
If somehow, maybe I could,
I know life makes you cry,
And sometimes I can’t be there,
I wish it were not true,
Like sometimes you didn’t care,
But if you didn’t hurt,
Your heart couldn’t be,
The one that I love,
With the love that I need,
God’s lingering soul,
In life’s longest mile,
To love me sweet, like a baby,
A beautiful child,

Sometimes deep in your heart,
Pain goes looking for you,
But, baby, if you couldn’t be found,
Then you just wouldn’t be true,
And I know life makes you sad,
It sometimes makes you scream,
I wish it were not true,
Like sometimes you weren’t so sweet,
But if you didn’t hurt,
Your heart couldn’t be,
The one that I love,
With the love that I need,
God’s lingering soul,
In life’s longest mile,
To love me sweet, like a baby,
A beautiful child,

You’re a beautiful child in this world,
O’, and sometimes this world isn’t right,
But the heart that makes me smile,
Is the same one that makes you cry,
O’, and tho’ you know I wish for you,
A heart that is less blue,
I can’t wish for you,
A heart that is less true,
‘Cos if you didn’t hurt,
Your heart couldn’t be,
The one that I love,
With the love that I need,
God’s lingering soul,
In life’s longest mile,
To love me sweet, like a baby,
A beautiful child,
Your heart shows a beautiful soul,
A beautiful child.

Pouring Rain (Stand Outside).

Unpublished Works, © 2005, BillyPauleyJr.*

Pouring Rain (Stand Outside).

There you stand in the pouring rain,
No one knows why you do,
Nothing in your heart remains,
To warm or shelter you,
O’, your life is like a swirling pool,
Tryin’ to pull you down,
And you’re so afraid to play the fool,
You’d rather sink and drown,

But if you stand outside in the pouring rain,
No one sees you cry,
O’, if you stand outside in the pouring rain,
Maybe you’ll get by

There you hide inside yourself,
In the unsuspecting rain,
No concern for love or health,
Or the consequential blame,
And nothing lingers like the pain,
Of your unforgiving view,
So now, outside, the pouring rain,
Is waiting there for you,

And if you stand outside in the pouring rain,
No one sees you cry,
O’, if you stand outside in the pouring rain,
Maybe you’ll get by

O’, there you stand in the pouring rain,
Looking for your truth,
Nothing in your heart remains,
To warm or shelter you,

But if you stand outside in the pouring rain,
No one sees you cry,
O’, if you stand outside in the pouring rain,
Maybe you’ll get by

O’, if you stand outside in the pouring rain,
No one sees you cry,
O’, if you stand outside in the pouring rain,
Maybe you’ll get by
O’, maybe you’ll get by.

Fading Friends.

Unpublished Works, © 2005, BillyPauleyJr.*

Fading Friends.

I love the best way I know how,
Yet I stumble again and again,
Is it me, is it who I can’t be,
In the heartbeat of my fading friends,
I open my arms to icy rejection,
I blow a kiss into empty air,
It kills me, how my heart doth bleed,
What’s the purpose of love unaware,

O’ the depth of my darkness is my fading friends,
It’s the strength of my weakness within,
I’m blind in the light of my love growing dim,
In the heartbeat of my fading friends,

I worry as much as I wonder,
Only wanting the best for my friends,
I wish and I hope, I pray and I dream,
But I don’t know where to begin,
Is it a product of my intention,
Without knowing how to provide,
That spoils the riches of my true heart,
And dampens the meaning inside,

O’ the depth of my darkness is my fading friends,
It’s the strength of my weakness within,
I’m blind in the light of my love growing dim,
In the heartbeat of my fading friends,

I believe if my friends often knew me,
They could harvest the love I possess,
Yet over and over and over I see,
The surface of my distress,
O’, I love the best way I know how,
Yet I stumble again and again,
Is it me, is it who I can’t be,
In the heartbeat of my fading friends,

O’ the depth of my darkness is my fading friends,
It’s the strength of my weakness within,
I’m blind in the light of my love growing dim,
In the heartbeat of my fading friends,

Is my love swimming in ignorance,
Is my soul drowning in arrogance,
Is my heart dying in negligence,
In the heartbeat of my fading friends.

He's Got Something For You.

Unpublished Works, © 1981, BillyPauleyJr.*

He’s Got Something For You.

Ladies and gentlemen of the congregation,
May I have your attention please,
This is for those of you who are doubtful,
And those of you who do not believe!

There was a time,
When I was down,
I was hopeless,
I came unwound,
I asked my preacher,
To set me free,
And this is what he said to me,

He’s got something for you,
I know you’ve got something for Him,
But you’ve gotta open up,
And let that savior in,
If you don’t believe me,
Just look at me, my friend,
‘Cos He gave something to me, yeah,
And I gave something to Him,

And so I did,
I took Him in,
No more sorrow,
No more sin,
If you are troubled,
If you are blue,
Then this is what I say to you,

He’s got something for you,
I know you’ve got something for Him,
But you’ve gotta open up,
And let that savior in,
If you don’t believe me,
Just look at me, my friend,
‘Cos He gave something to me, yeah,
And I gave something to Him,

Lord, I am happy,
Lord, I feel good,
Knowing I’m livin’,
That life that I should,
And if you’re feelin’,
The way I do,
Then tell the person right next to you,

Tell them... He’s got something for you,
I know you’ve got something for Him,
But you’ve gotta open up,
And let that savior in,
If you don’t believe me,
Just look at me, my friend,
‘Cos He gave something to me, yeah,
And I gave something to Him
O', He gave something to me, yeah,
And I gave something to Him,

O', He gave something to me, yeahhh... slow it down now,
And I... I gave somethinggg... slower,
I gave somethinggggg... tooooo...,
Himmmmm!

Do You Really Love Me.

Unpublished Works, © 1981, BillyPauleyJr.*

Do You Really Love Me.

Do I love you,
Well, that’s a silly thing to ask me now,
After all we’ve been thru’,
I know you’ve got me figured out,
You know I see you beautiful,
Lovely in every way,
You know I see you wonderful,
And it hurts me to hear you say,

Do you really love me,
Will you love me ‘til the day I die,
Do you think you’ll want me,
As the years keep rolling by,
Will the light keep shining,
Showing your heart right thru’ your eyes,
Do you really love me,
Will you love me ‘til the day I die,

You should know girl,
You’re the only one I’d ever tell,
In this whole world,
No one else knows me so well,
You know I see you wonderful,
Perfect in every way,
You know I see you beautiful,
But still sometimes you say,

Do you really love me,
Will you love me ‘til the day I die,
Do you think you’ll want me,
As the years keep rolling by,
Will the light keep shining,
Showing your heart right thru’ your eyes,
Do you really love me,
Will you love me ‘til the day I die,

Do you love me,
Well, that’s a silly thing to wonder now,
I know you love me,
But after all this time I wonder how,
I know I’m not really much to love,
But something to avoid instead,
And if I think about it long enough,
O', I know how you felt when you said,

Do you really love me,
Will you love me ‘til the day I die,
Do you think you’ll want me,
As the years keep rolling by,
Will the light keep shining,
Showing your heart right thru’ your eyes,
Do you really love me,
Will you love me ‘til the day I die.

Inventions By Happen Chance.

Unpublished Works, © 1980, BillyPauleyJr.*

Invention’s By Happen Chance.

Caveman Balzor was trapped on a hill,
His need for survival was much more than real,
So he found a round stone,
And rode all the way home,
Thus becoming the inventor of the wheel,
In the evening when the hoppy toads were croakin’,
The news of his experience was broken,
When his sounds got attention,
He had a second invention,
For now a language of man had been spoken,
The next day he tried something new,
He invented the first pair of shoes,
Tying stones to his feet,
He ran down the street,
And invented fire when all the sparks flew,
Balzor’s life was far too much tension,
Tho’ his creations were all good intentions,
One day while inventing the box,
He was killed by some rocks,
Thus making the coffin his last of inventions.

Mirage Of The Heart.

Unpublished Works, © 1997, BillyPauleyJr.*

Mirage Of The Heart.

You’re like a desert oasis to a thirsty man,
You’re like a wish come true on a star,
You’re like a chance to live my life over again,
Could you be a mirage of the heart,

It’s a mirage of the heart when I see you,
It’s a mirage of the heart I know,
It’s a mirage of the heart, you cannot be true,
It’s a mirage of the heart, o’, no,

You’re like the sun coming up after the storm,
You’re like a peace in the midst of a war,
You’re like a fire in the winter to keep me warm,
Could I be the one you’re meant for,

It’s a mirage of the heart when I see you,
It’s a mirage of the heart I know,
It’s a mirage of the heart, you cannot be true,
It’s a mirage of the heart, o’, no,

You’re like a breath of fresh air,
You’re like a drink of fresh water,
You’re like a someone who cares,
You’re like a someone I wanted,
You’re like a chance to live my life over again,
Could you be a mirage of the heart,

It’s a mirage of the heart when I see you,
It’s a mirage of the heart I know,
It’s a mirage of the heart, you cannot be true,
It’s a mirage of the heart, o’, no,

You’re like a desert oasis to a thirsty man,
You’re like a wish come true on a star,
You’re like a chance to live my life over again,

It’s a mirage of the heart I know,
It’s a mirage of the heart, you cannot be true,
It’s a mirage of the heart, o’, no,

It’s a mirage of the heart, o’, no.

Have You Been There?

Unpublished Works, © 1997, BillyPauleyJr.*

Have You Been There?

I have been to the edge,
I have walked thru’ the fire,
I have lived on no more than air,
I have lost my way,
I have forgotten desire,
Tell me, o’, girl, have you been there?

Have you been there?
Where sanity leaves,
Where love often falters,
Where hearts go to bleed,
Where desperate emotions meet in despair,
I have been there, o’, girl,
Have you been there?

I have fell in the ocean,
I have sunk in the sea,
I have drifted away without care,
I have roared in the wind,
I have been to my knees,
Tell me, o’, girl, have you been there?

Have you been there?
Where sanity leaves,
Where love often falters,
Where hearts go to bleed,
Where desperate emotions meet in despair,
I have been there, o’, girl,
Have you been there?

I have cried in the rain,
I have ached in the night,
I have stood where few ever dare,
I have rose to the challenge,
I have lost in the fight,
Tell me, o’, girl, have you been there?

Have you been there?
Where sanity leaves,
Where love often falters,
Where hearts go to bleed,
Where desperate emotions meet in despair,
I have been there, o’, girl,
Have you been there?

I have been to the edge,
I have been thru’ despair,
Tell me, o’, girl,
Have you been there?

Unintended Consequence (My Happy Life).

Unpublished Works, © 2008, BillyPauleyJr.*

Unintended Consequence (My Happy Life).

I am so happy with my life,
Altho’ I know it’s true,
It’s an unintended consequence,
Of falling in love with you,
I love you, my days get brighter,
In my worries the load is lighter,
I love you, my laughter resounds,
In your heart I know it bounds,
I love you, time starts to heal me,
In your soul my words reveal me,
I love you, my heart stops aching,
In my memory no longer breaking,
Yes, I am so happy with my life,
Altho’ I must tell you it’s true,
It’s an unintended consequence,
Of falling in love with you.

Liberty.

Unpublished Works, © 1979, BillyPauleyJr.*

Liberty.

O’, hail to thee, great Liberty,
What, in you, does your country see,
Is it in your torch in which you hold,
That makes your country brave and bold,
Could it be in your mighty crown,
With thorns of safety, which many have found,
Is it in your book that you hold so dear,
That makes your country afraid to fear,
Or is it in your robe so long,
That makes your country want to be strong,
Is it because you stand not only on stones beneath,
But on your country’s own beliefs,
As your people grow wiser they will see,
It is not one, but all of these,
O’, hail to thee, great Liberty,
Life, in you, your country sees.
