I’ll Be Damned.
You come on strong looking sweet,
Trying to get love out of me,
But I don’t give,
And you won’t quit,
But you think you can tear my heart free,
Well, somehow you may be right,
But that’s not how I feel inside,
And you can prove,
Your love is true,
You can’t back out now, you might lose your pride,
There are things in this world, Love,
That we can’t be sure of,
And some of them just bother me,
To get what you want,
You may hurt someone,
But I’ll be damned if you’ll mess over me,
I’ll be damned if you’ll mess over me,
I don’t love so easily,
And I can’t help, but feel inside,
That you only want to gain me to keep your pride,
It’ll fall apart, you’ll see,
And I’ll be damned if you’ll mess over me,
Nothing I love can be possessed,
A point I’ve always tried to stress,
And sometimes we touch,
Without meaning much,
‘Cos the touch only wants to caress,
I really wouldn’t mind loving you,
But I can’t feel the way you do,
Maybe in time,
You’ll change my mind,
But until then don’t be surprised with anything I do,
I’ll be damned if you’ll mess over me,

Strong piece. I have no pride and I'm already damned, but love is still a tricky thing.
ReplyDeleteyes... it is. i wrote this for a freind 'peggy' who was reading my 'love songs' and said, "you need to write one that says 'i'll be damned if you'll mess over me'" we laughed... ridiculous, so it seemed; i wrote it immediately (on my break at work) and bro't it to her. :) Thanx for your comment!
