Skin Deep.

They say that my body is a beautiful thing,
They hide all their girlfriends and wedding rings,
They make me offers I have to refuse,
They cry and they tell me how I give them the blues,
They tell me to lose me would hurt them so bad,
But how can you lose something you don’t even have,
They tell me they want me, forever to keep,
And I say, my beauty, don’t you know is skin deep,

O’, skin deep,
My beauty is only skin deep,
And so are you,
You’re only skin deep,
O’, I must get to know you much better than this,
Before we could be in a relationship,
And tonight you are lonely,

They kiss me, they hug me, they whisper my name,
They all want to have me and I cannot complain,
They try to undress me, try to make their moves,
They try to impress me and they seldom do,
They always seem to listen, but it never sinks in,
They cannot accept me as only a friend,
They want to be king as long as I am their queen,
I tell them my beauty is only skin deep,

They constantly misjudge the way that I feel,
I never intend for it to come to this,
They cry and they scream, they get thoroughly pissed,
I know I shouldn’t, but I blame myself,
I say without me they have nobody else,
But I cannot live my life for them you see,
They must know my beauty is only skin deep,
