The repetitive-ness add to the lyrical flow. These sound like song lyrics. I like the child's rhyme. Good work, WillyToad.
ReplyDeleteit is a song... i must admit i get my lyrical rhythm from dr. seuss, not paul simon. :p this song in particular has a chugging sort of rhythm, it put me in mind of dr. seuss's 'and to think i saw it on mulberry street'; not for meaning, but because he wrote that work on a steam ship crossing the atlantic; to the rhythm of the chugging ship. how cool to have lived like that. the deeper part (for me) is the simple fact of how we treat loved ones horribly and when in the fire get desperate... then we realize that no word describes love better than love... and we sound like the rambling seuss... "i love you like i love you... and i don't wanna lie". the upbeat of the song is ironic to the desperation of the words. thanx for your good words... and for listening. :)
