I Was A Patriot (When Patriotism Wasn’t Cool).

I was crazy for loving America,
I looked silly in my red, white, and blue,
I was weird for singing like a patriot,
Then NineOneOne came and so were you,
I was odd to proudly be American,
I was strange for flying my flag true,
I was unusual to be so thankful for my freedom,
Then NineOneOne came and so were you,

I was a patriot,
When patriotism wasn’t cool,
Singing our national anthem,
Saying our pledge in school,
Ready to die for freedom,
Bleeding red, white, and blue,
Yeah, I was a patriot,
When patriotism wasn’t cool,

I was different for my understanding,
I am lucky to live like I do,
I was proud to be a patriot,
Then NineOneOne came and so were you,
I was wacky for waving my flag,
At home, at play, at school,
I was pledging my allegiance,
Then NineOneOne came and so were you,

I was a patriot,

O’, I was a nerd for knowing our anthem,
Yes, and a geek for singing it too,
I was lame, no doubt, with my hand on my heart,
